Apologies in advance if some parts are missing. I didn't serve this one, my coworker did. However, I was backed up next to her and pretty much heard it. As I can't remember it all, I'll attempt to sum it up.
Coworker is serving customers-a nice couple. Conversation flows freely, like all good customer service folk.
Lady In A Hurry stomps up to the lane and demands that CW hurry up.
CW states that she is currently serving and she will be with them in a moment.
LIAH gets angry.
Customers CW is currently serving interject. Husband calls the LIAH "old scrooge." (she wasn't that old) He also asks why she can't use the express lane.
LIAH interjects that she's had a bad day or something to that effect. Awesome Customers tell the lady off for the operator.
LIAH is eventually served. Asks for my coworkers name, then leaves without lodging a complaint at the service desk.
CW gives my manager, 2IC and 3IC a headsup in case she rings, and I offer to back her up as well.
For the rest of the night, every time she told a customer that, I kept laughing whenever she said "old scrooge."
For the record, I think she may have rung, however I don't think I was around to hear the manager's side. HOWEVER, my manager received an abusive call, which she quickly stopped with "This call is being monitored."
