Varies by state (and country.) The law in Canada allows for medical marijuana, and I just recently saw a legit permit/license for it for the first time, after hearing dozens if not hundreds of people claim they have one, but "left it at home."Quoth superhotelworker View PostNot sure even medical marijauna is legal, and I highly doubt my co-workers would photocopy the stupid card anyway.. but my Manager would be able to give it back.
It was about 3am, and this guest, who looked to have full mobility, came up to me at the desk and showed me her card. She said she was going outside to smoke her prescription, (all our rooms are non-smoking) and didn't feel comfortable standing alone outside in the dark.
I gave her card a really thorough examination. Not that I cared whether or not she had one, this is BC after all, but just because I'd never seen one before.
Now, here's an interesting question you just made me think of: Suppose it was a disabled/handicapped guest with a legit permit who had severely limited or no mobility. Would we have to allow them to smoke in the room? Wouldn't it be against the law do deny them service based on their disability?

See! It's probably things like this that make that asshole cop think you rent to druggies!Quoth superhotelworker View PostActually, we have a handicap suite set aside for that purpose, it's the only smoking room on my ground floor. But.. Medical Marijauna isn't allowed in my state (I actually got curious enough to call the cops I know to ask. Then had to explain why.. Oooh that was fun..)

I've been in some seedy places, and some nice places, while traveling around and i've never seen a hotel allow someone to check in without a valid credit/debit card. 50$ seems extremely low for a deposit if they trash the room. I'm sure you have ways of getting the rest, but I'd be shocked if someone said I could rent a room without a credit card.Thou shalt not take the name of thy goddess Whiskey in vain.

Often, I wish we did. People abuse it so much.
