Just a minute!!!
Once again, I was the only cashier. I had just gotten back from my last break where one of my co workers told me how good natured I was. It was funny for what happend RIGHT after... My SV worked out of my window while I had my last ten.
Well, the person she was helping was paying on her TEN markers. And the process takes a bit, you have to pay them, get the paper, go in the back, grab ALL The markers (making sure the numbers match) and then give her the papers (receipts really) and then you're done.
It would have gone smoothly IF my SV had stayed with her and helped her while I helped the line. No such luck. She ditched me in the middle. She wasn't being a total jerk though, she did have a window in the back. And I like this SV usually cuz she works hard.
Anyway, so, I am trying my best to work as fast as I can. It's hard to see the screen especially with so many. So I took like two mins and headed into the back. Well, they couldn't find one of them cuz of the huge number of markers she paid, it didn't print all of them on the paper we match the other ones too. So, that caused a delay. When I left to get the markers there was NO one there.
So, I was standing where you could see me from the front.
SC (some old dude who wanted to be a prick) Hey! Get your ass out here! What the hell is the hold up!?
I got so angry, I screamed at him from where I was:
Me: I will be there in a minute!!!
I said it like the exorcist. I was in a bad mood at that point. The whole cage had this look:
I am normally shy and quiet. But I was loosing my cool. Oh, I lost my cool, badly. I'm actually embarassed how bad I acted but given the circumstances, anybody would have flipped.
Finally, I gave up on the markers and had my boss handle it while I got sent out to handle the mob of people who were yelling at me. Great. I was shaking at that point. With anger and annoyance.
I had two lines coming at me.
Me: I don't know who was first but I'd like to point out that the line starts THAT way!
I even did hand motions to show my point.
Sucky old man: I was here first! (he wasn't in the right line, he made his own line)
SOM: Oh, geez, is this going to take two years!?
Me: Look, it's just me! I'm working as fast as I can!
I didn't care WHO was there first, I wanted them OUT. I didn't greet any of them nor did I care if I said have a good night. I was really thinking not so happy thoughts.
The lady I was still helping with the markers kept telling me who was next. Like STFU. She was egging them on too!
I got the grumpy old men out of the way and took a lady who was hanging on the cage like she just walked a mile in the desert and needed some water. I wasn't gone more than two mins.
SB: (snooty bitch) About time. I've been waiting for twenty minutes!
LIAR! 20mins MY ASS.
Me: I'm sorry we're short handed.
SB: Is YOUR casino too cheap to hire more workers?
Me: Good call. Yeah.
I know that is a big time NO NO but damnit, I work my ass off, NO overtime, haven't had a raise in THREE years and I have no help. And try having a line of like ten people yelling at YOU. With NO help! I wanted to cry.
SB: Honestly, having you here all by yourself. What the hell are they thinking? I shouldn't have had to wait that long!
She went on and on and on. I didn't care. It is true. But we just hired two new people. It's the timing of that window that sucks ass. They can fix it but our manager doesn't care. We've tried to tell her but she just acts like its so easy. But you never see the ones who think its so easy getting yelled at by a mob and having to deal with all the stress, do you? I think if the higher ups had to get yelled at and feel the pressure, maybe things would change. But that will never happen.
I started to clear the line and apologized to the nice ones about the wait and most of them were nice about it.
My boss fucked me over by yelling out the window (when I told her they were yelling at me cuz I thought she'd come out and help me) she yelled at THEM saying I was all by myself. Well, yeah, and they yelled back too. It was humiliating and I felt like I was going to cry and scream at the same time.
I finally cleared the line and got to breathe. I seriously wanted to walk away and tell SV that it's alll hers that I do NOT get paid enough to get yelled at by people and 11pm at night. I'm sorry to have bitched so much but I am still angry and it will happen again and it will be me. I will try to keep my cool a little better next time.
