I don't know if it is in the Bible, but I do know that the Bible-thumpers around here get all twisted up over gambling. There was a giant fight over the casino built a few years ago, and another when they were debating table games.

They got all pissed here in Pennsylvania a few years back over gambling. Yep, we have a few casinos now. Anyhoo, quite a few people got up in arms over the casinos...yet they were even *more* upset when it was announced that property taxes were probably going to rise if those casinos didn't get to open

Hey, there's nothing the Bible against gambling (that I recall).

IIRC, a lot of the more enthusiastic xtians believe that the bit in the bible about the Roman Soldiers "casting lots" over Jesus' underpantydrawers during the crucifixion means that you suck if you gamble.

My husband reckons that it's just Baptists who are anti-gambling. He thinks that it has something to do with the casting of lots to determine the 13th disciple after Judas died. Apparently, the Holy Spirit then came and therefore the "age of prophesy" was over and "gambling" was no longer required for prophesying purposes.

Morality has little to do with legality. There are still places where slavery is legal in the world, but I don't think that makes it any more moral.
