Good idea: Calling to report the old lady next door found the lost dog.

Bad idea: Stealing the dog from the old lady next door, then demanding twice the offered reward to return it.

Good idea: Politely working with the desk clerk to settle on a room rate that's agreeable to you both.
Bad idea: Throwing a bitchfit and storming out of the lobby when the clerk quotes a rate you're unwilling to pay.
To right the countless wrongs of our days... We shine this light of true redemption, that this place may become as paradise...Oh, what a wonderful world such would be...

        Im liking this idea!!!

Good Idea: Being polite to your travel agent, realizing she wields the power to seat you in a center seat near the lavatory on your 6 hour flight.

Bad Idea: Being condescending, demanding, entitled or whiny to your travel agent, and finding out the hard way, that she wields the power to seat you in a center seat near the lavatory.

And if THAT weren't bad enough, the TA can do this WITHOUT getting caught.

Good Idea= Answer the cashiers questions about where you retrieved your flowers from.
Bad idea= THROWING ROSES AT THE CASHIERS FACE!!!

I do not think I will EVER get over that. Ever.

Good idea= To offer the desk Clerk a slice of your pizza
Bad idea= to Demand the desk clerk give you their lunch

Nor should you have!! Let me guess? A spineless manager let him get away with it?

Actually it was my CW who didn't stop her. The whole event left me too stunned to move. My manager later came over and took me upstairs. She and my Supervisor spent the next half hour telling me all the horrible things had they known what was happening. They told me if a customer was ever pissing me off I was allowed to turn off my light and just walk away.

I really loved those two. ^-^ My old Supervisor is now one of the stylists at the salon I go to.

Good Idea: Bringing a truck or a van when purchasing large furniture or TVs requiring somebody to load them up for you.

Bad Idea: Bringing a normal car, or your kids along, when purchasing large furniture or TVs, expecting the person loading them up to take the item out of the box or move stuff around in your vehicle, and then saying offhand "I guess I should've brought the truck after all. Har dee har."
                -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good Idea: Cleaning up after yourself when using our restrooms.

Bad Idea: Leaving schnibbles of toilet paper on the floor, missing the trash can with your wet paper towels, and storming up to the service desk to complain the restroom is "just filthy!"
                --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good Idea: Patiently waiting as I get somebody to check off the item I'm carrying out for you against the duplicate receipt printed by the cashier, as company policy, enforced by LP reviewing the camera footage, requires me to do.

Bad Idea: Tapping your foot, conspicuously checking your watch, and heaving gusty sighs as I wait for somebody to check off your duplicate receipt. When I see you doing this, I tell the person checking the receipt to be extra thorough and check all the numbers, even though I know I brought up the right thing to begin with.
Knowledge is power. Power corrupts. Study hard. Be evil.

Good idea "listening to what I am explaining to you without interupting then asking any questions you may have when I have stopped speaking"

bad idea - "interrupting me every few seconds to say something which has nothing to do with what I am trying to explain so that I lose track of what I am saying, and you have no idea what to do next"
I HATE that. I have a very good spiel, thank you. Everything I tell you has a purpose, and cutting me off after every statement to ask about something that I am GOING TO TELL YOU WHEN IT MAKES SENSE, does not help.

Bad Idea: Interrupting and going ahead of the tech support rep that's trying to guide you through fixing your issues.

                      Hand-made plushes, cool!

Good idea: Asking me how much an ad will cost for a car, running for 2 weeks, including a photo, and here is the exact wording..etc (customer gives text).

Bad idea: Asking me "how much is a ad?" (yes, "a" instead of the proper "an", very typical) and making me pull the necessary details out of you with a crowbar.

Worse idea: Getting mad because I have to ask you what you're advertising before I can give you the proper rate. Would you go into a car dealership and ask "how much is a car?" and expect them to give you a one-size-fits-all answer? (yeah....you probably would...)
When you start at zero, everything's progress.

Ooh, I hated that when I worked at The Bullseye. A CW and I once spent a good half hour trying to shove a huge gas grill into an idiot SCs tiny car. Not only was it a pain to get from the floor to the vehicle (it was on clearance, last one left, box torn to hell, etc), but then we get encountered with that. We ended up having to completely remove it from the box, put part of it in the trunk (which of course then wouldn't close all the way), and the rest of it in the back seat.

                            This is fun !!

Good idea : After asking if we have an item in stock and finding out we don't, politely thank us for our time and go on your merry way.

Bad idea : After asking if we have an item in stock and finding out we don't, going to the next 2 employees you see and ask the same question, because obviously the first person you asked was lying to you

Good idea : Politely approach an employee if you need our assistance.

Bad idea : Waving your credit card in the air and saying "I have money to spend and no one wants to take it from me !! ".

Good Idea: Asking your tech support rep questions, as that's what they're there for.
