There was once an incident at my store where one of my managers got slapped in the face by a customer. Some strung out case who was obviously high on something, arguing about some unjustified item return. The manager would not comply to her demands so she simply slapped him. The whole store literally went dead silent when that happened. Needless to say, the cops were called.

Unfortunately, when it comes to minor inconveniences like making a customer wait in line instead of letting them cut in, then management takes the customer's side. In our store's case, that customer probably would have been given a free item for the grief she was put through and the injured employee would have probably been ordered to keep on working as usual.

I think bean's reference to their shink means they are getting therapy.

A lot of people generally call their psychiatrist and their psychologist shrinks as well. Differentiating to "normal people" is such a damn hassle. Not to mention, the only therapy available isn't one-on-one with a psych. If I had my choice, I wouldn't have one.

I have a meeting with a GI dr on monday to discuss how we will proceed, followed a few hours later by a meeting with my shrink for happy pill refills.

Although I do not know the exact reason you're taking them, I would strongly recommend that you consider therapy in conjunction with your meds.

Your PCP should have no trouble being able to prescribe your pills since you've been on them a while and you're familiar with the side effects and they are working for you. Although I do not know the exact reason you're taking them, I would strongly recommend that you consider therapy in conjunction with your meds. Hubby-o'-Mine is getting his doctorate in psychology, and between his schooling and my experience I've learned that medications without therapy (and sometimes therapy without medication) only deals with part of the problem. You don't want to go to a psychiatrist for therapy, though: they're basically drug dealers, not therapists. You can see a psychologist, a social workers, a priest of your preferred religion... anyone with training in dealing with the issues you're coping with. Most counselors with masters-level degrees can help you for minimal cost, and they're obliged by the American Psychological Association to see that even people without the ability to pay are given access to mental health care: it's in their code of ethics, so if you find a psychologist with an APA membership you can always bring that up to see what they can do for you.

I hope your hand gets better soon. Congratulations on having a manager who will back you up in this. From what I read on the board managers like that are a dieing breed!

If I EVER see a customer assault an employee I'll automatically call 911 and get the plate number if I can. The way I see it, it's no longer a situation for "corporate" to deal with. It's a law enforcement matter and belongs in a court of law, not on the roster in a corporate office.

The one thing that sucks the most about that incident is the fact that the fucking bitch got away. Props for not jumping the counter, too; someone demented enough to hurl food at anyone is probably going to cry assault if there's any sort of retaliation. Still, I'd have loved to see that bitch in jail, or at least a psych ward for a few years.

I've noticed an increasing number of notices in stores, banks etc that abuse of staff will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate ban. Even my dentist's surgery has a sign saying that anybody who tries to abuse or assault any employee will be removed from the premises and will no longer be seen by anyone in the practice.

get copies of all of the bloodwork, xrays, CT scans, labs, etc

mom does that too... kinda. one of her visits had a lot of data so they just burned it to a CD

that way it was easier to share the info


and yeah... more companies need to defend the employees from customers who think it's their right to be violent.

i think if some of these EW-rights were effectively revoked ... it would encourage better behavior. or at least it'd get the EWs where they belong... in jail or in anger management classes

It's really cool that you have medical insurance, even though you just got an actual doctor for yourself. And an excellent one, at that, judging from what you said. He sounds pretty chill! Gettin' shit done right off the bat, knowledgeable and on your side in a way that many others aren't (on their patients' sides).
