  • Why do all the creepy people come here?

Okay, first story isn't about a creepy person, just stupid teenagers. Two teenagers tried to steal our motorized carts for handicapped people and our manager and a couple other employees chased them through the parking lot and made them return the carts. Idiots.

Okay, here's the creepy story. We have a relatively new girl that works at our store. We'll call her Ashley. She's only 17 and she's a pretty girl, and super nice to everyone. Well, she said hello to he creepy man (we'll call him SC) and went on her merry way. She noticed after awhile that everywhere she went, SC followed her. Nautrally she got nervous and was freaking out. At one point he waved her down and she ran away from him to the back room. She called out over the walkie saying there was a man following her and she was in the back room and didn't know what to do.

Well, several employees came rushing to her aid of course, and circled around her and walked her through the store to the break room (which you need a code to get into, so only employees are able to get in.) When they showed up to the back room, the guy was actually waiting outside the door for her! Later he went to the front registers and was looking at all the cashiers, most likely looking for her. One of my managers said that a while after that she caught him taking pictures of people's butts on his cell phone. WTF.

I was on break when all this happened, so I never saw the man, but I was with Ashley and she told me the story. She was visibly shaken and freaked out, which I would have been too. I think the managers told the guy eventually that he had to leave the store, but I'm not for sure. They should have though. It was crazy. I felt so bad for the poor girl.

This just goes to show you that you really need to be careful out there, even at work. Nothing is safe anymore. Psychos are everywhere. Damn I hate retail.

    Um....

If ever a time it was needed, now would be good. Especially with a MANAGER seeing him take pics of butts on his cell phone. If those butts were underage, the cops shouldve been involved. If they were overage, i still wouldve called them. Served him with a trespass warning.

Poor girl. Hes more than creepy.

Now that's beyond creepy . . . the police should have been called no matter what IMO.

Not doing so would violate employee safety policies I would think. Since this wasn't done, suggest to Ashley that she contact HR and report the matter to them. If nothing else, it'll be on record in the event that Creepy Butt-Guy comes back and management doesn't properly handle the situation.

Instant banishment from the store and a police report filed. That kind of behavior can and should not be tolerated.

Notice that she did exactly what employees are required to do -- greet the customer -- and ends up with the creepy sleazy stalker. Employees just can't win.

I do hope he's been banned. She doesn't need to put up with that crap. Kudos to the coworkers who came to her aid.

That's just sickening. Management refused to protect her in any way?
Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.

Well actually, the manager on duty is the one in charge of HR... so I guess it would do her no good to report it. Now I'm not for sure if in fact she had to write a witness statement or something like that, but I don't think they really did anything about it other than asking the guy to leave. It's a shame our security guy wasn't there that night because he would've called the cops for sure, or at least scared the shit out of the creepy guy.

As an update, I talked to Ashley today and she said after she got off work that night she noticed 2 guys in a van were following her. She pulled over in a parking lot and they pulled over a little bit away from her. She just waited there in her car until they finally left. Thank goodness they didn't get out of the van and try to grab her or something. It's terrible. Our parking lot does have security, but the guy just kinda drives around and I don't know how much they could really do.

Poor girl. I can't believe that management just did nothing. That's one thing about where I work, the managers have spines and the deputy manager in particular is one feisty lady - she would have had his backside on toast for that.

That's a 911 call; or it should have been.

Poor girl. That's a harsh welcome to the wonderful world of retail.

I hope she reported it, even if they couldn't do anything. Leave a paper trail, just in case, heaven forbid, something nasty happens.
