The problem is that she IS raising her kids with her idea of common courtesy... meaning that everyone caters to her and she gets to sail through life like a happy fucking princess.

I wish I could say that the world doesn't work like that, but unfortunately every time a spineless manager gives in, or someone else ignores her antics because they don't want to deal with her, it just reinforces her self-importance.

CRML, how much ability does your school have to expel students? I know that public schools here often can't do it without severe provocation, because they're expected/required to provide education to everyone, and if someone gets expelled it jeopardises that. And private schools are reluctant to do so, because then not only do they lose that student's tuition, but often that of siblings or even of friends.

(Basically what I'm asking is is it likely that the child will get a ban to follow that of his mother? Because if the mom has been banned from the grounds, and the kid refuses to behave I'm feeling very sorry for the poor student.)

The childs behaviour i think should at least earn an in school suspension. However, they HAD to give the phone back, if they didnt it WOULD be stealing. And if its a public school, I can imagine any action against the kid being fought and turned over. /sigh

Shes not doing this kid any favors. Had it been my son..well, he knows better. He had a toy taken away in school and I took forever to go reclaim it for him.

I had a bouncy ball that was about the size of my 10 (or 11? I don't really remember - 5th grade, anyway! haha) year old fist, I loved that thing. I took it to school and got it confiscated after my mom told me specifically not to take it to school. As far as I know, that teacher still has my ball, she wouldn't go get it back. Something about listening to her next time, or something. My mom actually loved me, though.

I feel so sorry for that kid, and I am angry as heck that they just gave in to her. I would have insisted on the letter and called the cops if she fussed up. The school failed that child terribly.

I totally agree that the mother has set an unbelievably poor example and overreacted to the nth degree!!!

That being said though, I never did agree with the notion of schools being allowed to confiscate non-threatening personal property. But the cell phone jammer idea sounds good!

Yeah, texting in class and getting all pissy your son's phone got confiscated. GREAT example you're setting for your kid lady. Is it any wonder kids these days have the issues they do with crazy ****ing parents like that?

Mother should have handled this in a different manner. I personally would have just called the police, or had the school call the police. Stealing is stealing..
