King size is around 85 mm long (with the exception of Marlboro 72's, which are 72 mm long), 100's are 100 mm long. You also have select brands that come in a 120 mm long size (such as Virginia Lights, Misty and Eve just to name a few.)
The length doesn't affect the taste of the cigarette, only how long it lasts.
I usually go for 100's myself, as my signature leather Etienne Aigner case is made to hold the 100 size. But I have taken the king size before if the store is out of the 100 size.
