Had a customer call tonight, and I got to deal with this...
J: "*my store*, Service Desk, this is Juwl, how may I help you?"
C: "Yeah, I was in today around 4:00, and I bought two pieces of furniture... no, it was 4:20, and I started putting the furniture together at 5 and I still haven't gotten a single bit done... can I return it?"
Night manager walks up beside me at this point...
J: "I really don't know, you'd have to come in and talk to guest services tomorrow after 8 AM... I'd imagine as long as all the pieces are there..."
C: "If you buy a bit of furniture that you have to put together yourself, it should be damn EASY to do!"
J: I'm sorry you're an idiot, but I can't fix it for you over the phone...
I turned to night manager, and filled him in, cause he looked very confused...
J: "If I'm here when she comes in tomorrow, can I point and laugh?" I'm off tomorrow... so...
NM: "Sure."
J: "Sweet."
I told this story to a coworker, and he admonished me that I shouldn't say so much on the phone, cause , hey, those ARE our customers. I pointed out to him that I didn't say everything, I was commenting as I went along to tell him the story.
