  • So, you think you can outwit me? Nyah.

Camera came up at full price.

SC: No, it's supposed to be this price. *Points to sale price in the paper*
Me: Yes, that was for Black Friday from 6am to noon. (Boy you are lucky you didn't pull this yesterday)
SC: *Shows me the flier* It says the sale is going from Friday to Saturday.
Me: Yes sir, it says "Deals from Friday to Saturday" but this particular sale *Points to big black lettering right on the same page he was showing me* was only from 6m to noon.
SC: Oh, then I don't want to buy it.

    Well played worthy adversary.

We always got tons of price-match requests for doorbusters....on Sat and Sun. Sorry, but if *competitor* won't sell it to you for that price, we won't either.

I had a guy come in thinking he was slick.

He came in with just a clip of the product advertised not the entire ad asking for a particular battery charger that was a door buster.

Me and my CW happen to have the entire mailer on us and we showed him how it says at the top it was a door buster. Course guy is not happy and tries to go on the diatribe about how the advertisement is not clear and sucks yadda yadda yadda,

Its times like this that I think of idiot managers who will say to just go ahead and give it to them for that price I hope you realize you got off lucky. Many other stories I heard about, the customer will not give up so easily.

I wouldn't say I got off Lucky as such. I'm not into cats after all. (Cookies for the reference)

The last few weeks have been an exercise in picking my battles. But I seriously doubt even my management (at least not all of them) would take forty-dollars off of a hundred dollar or so camera that was only on sale for five hours.

If they do, it's their ass on the line since I can't take off more than a few dollars without their input.

The place I used to work at had a price promise - and one day we had a guy come in to buy a couple of printers, and said that local independent store X sold them cheaper, and would we price match. In all honesty, the price promise was pretty inconsistent, but even if it hadn't been, this guy wouldn't have got them at that price. Why? Because store X happened to be a store I'd visited in the past and recognized the guy as the owner - he offered to give us a phone number to call for the store. When confronted with this, he claimed he'd since sold the store. Yeah.. not going to happen, as a manager confirmed.

Jin's mom's three-legged cat in Cryoburn was called Lucky, but there have got to be others...

Well, the cat in Alf was also named Lucky, which was the one I was thinking of. I guess Lucky is too common a name for media cats to be put to good use for reference cookies.
