What you don't realize is just how many of them talk to the automated menu like it's an actual person
sadly I get that way too often at the relay center where I'll be relaying an automated system (and I've explicitly told the deaf user it's an automated system) and they still respond like talking to a person... then get upset when it doesn't respond to everything they say

Or insist that a real person is an automated system?

Yet another one. This happened just a few seconds ago...

Me: Good afternoon, [Company]

SC: Yes, I just got two missed called from this number, could I speak to whoever was calling me?

Me: I couldn't tell you who that was. Any time someone calls out from this building it shows the main office number and I have no way too look up who called who. Did they leave a name?

SC: What company is this?

(*sigh* I just told you this)

Me: [Company]

SC: Oh, then I know who it was, it was [name]

Me: I'll transfer you right over.
