It's the policy of Walmart to not match prices in store to that of items on walmart.com. I know this seems silly, but they come from different warehouses and becomes a matter of supply. and there are objects that are cheaper in store (usually movies). This seems to be the one thing that enrages most customers, especially during christmas and the gift card aftermath.

Several insist that the website says it is available in our store for the same price, when the website only lists the online price, and then says prices in store may vary. even if you go to "find in store"

One lady demanded a manager and swore to him that the website said she could get it at this store for the online price, so he gave it to her. Looked up the item just after she left and it doesn't even have a "find in store" option, so it doesn't mention our location at all.

Just really been getting on my nerves.

Bonus: Had a customer buying something, handed me some cash, saying "I need to pay with this first." then handed me a gift card adding "and then this." Now me, not being a mindreader, did exactly as she said, which ended up with some left on the gift card. Of course, this wasn't what she wanted at all, but nothing I could do but send her up to customer service desk. I know I could've reasoned that i would prefer the gift card first, and if she had just handed me both I would've done that. But when you give me specific instructions I'm going to follow them.

    1) Your manager demands a swift kick for giving into the tantrumer just to get rid of her.

    2) You did what they said they wanted. Not your fault they couldn't manage to tell you the right thing.

    3) People, in the aggregate, are uncivilized ruffians, and defacing floor models is just one of the myriad ways they prove it.

Then you have the folks upset because the website shows it's in store. Customer shows up and learns the very popular item is out of stock and backordered. No amount of "the webiste says it's available in store, not that it's in stock" will make a difference.

More to the point -- EVERY site that I have encountered that does this, says to call the store FIRST to make sure they actually have the item in question available (before you go out there)...

Site quantities are usually updated once every day or two, if even that often.

Dude, being in Electronics, that's the biggest complain I get. That and the fact that Walmart doesn't match with other Walmarts. Being within 20 miles of two other stores, I get yelled at a lot for this one.

          I. Hate. That. I wish I could just stand there with a bat and smack whoever keeps doing it.

Walmart does have a maddening website though. I once found a rifle I wanted on clearance for an awesome price. Being a gun you can't just order it from the website so I went to the store the guy behind the counter calls the supplier and is told they haven't had any in MONTHS. Even though they had just gone on clearance the day before!!

Also, I keep having people say "online it says you have X many." Am I just stupid? Cause I've never seen it say anything like that.

I live within twenty miles of six -- yes, SIX -- Wally Worlds (which is one of the reasons why so many of my stories come from there).

Two of them have lower prices on electronics than the others, one of them is always lowest on food, another has better clothing selections... I have heard people start the whining about "But the other WW has this for less". Well, then go buy it there. Sheesh.

Even GameStore does this. Pricing on some things - especially used games, may vary by as much as 5 to 10 bucks, and certain areas will get more of certain types of games due to demographics, perceived or otherwise.
