I think the assumption that the people there were Mexican is fairly likely to be correct; by far the greatest population of Hispanics in my state are of Mexican descent. It was just this crazy-awful-off-the-wall, not to be doubted tone in her voice that of course her doctor should know better than to let "those people" into his office in the first place; much less allow them to (have appointments ahead of her, sit in the waiting room chairs next to her, talk with each other in Spanish, take your pick.)
When I took the call, I hadn't yet gotten married; but my husband is Hispanic and my last name is now a very Mexican-sounding name. I wonder what she would have said to me on the phone if that had been my name at the time.....

If you're in the ER, chances are that you're in pain! I feel sorry for your little one, having to put up with people like that >_<
