Yeah my grandmother used to "graze" on grapes at her local supermarket. Yes she did own her own retail shop at the time and didn't understand that what she was doing was stealing. Of course the grapes weren't washed or anything...

and she got a nasty stomach bug. Twice.

I think she's learned her lesson now. Karma works wonders.

But that would mean they'd have to run their caaaaaard twiiiiice. Or write twoooooo checks. I don't understand the phobia of multiple transactions, especially when you're using cash. I'll have some weirdos who will delay picking up their Rxs for days at a time so they can wait until all the meds are ready, and 9 times out of ten 'that way I don't have to write two checks'. Because going to an ATM or visiting the bank must be a foreign concept to them.
There are SOME banks who only let you do 2 or 3 transactions with your debt card a day. While you can do unlimited debit card transactions if you use it as credit, people just don't seem to understand the concept. You tell them to "use their card as Credit" and they FREAK. "But I don't want a credit card!" "mam' it doesn't work like a credit card. It works just like your debit card just you don't need your PIN number..."

Do you have a magic "germ dissolving power" that the rest of us don't know about? If so, I want one! :-)

I've been known to shamelessly graze on the by-the-weight grapes in my cart.. but then again, the store I shop has a little scale where you can weigh the produce yourself, and print a little barcode sticker with how much it weighed and the price, to stick to the grapes. Guilt-free grazing, away!

            Well, not quite.

Credit card transactions are usually processed every night, with a hold placed immediately, but that's not always the case. Some processors just suck and the hold stays for days after the charge was either completed or canceled. Plus, overdraft protection doesn't work the same for credit charges vs debit charges.

Speaking of grazing, many years ago I saw a person at a checkout counter having some kind of difficulty with their transaction. As the transaction was progressing, they had a large open bag of Cheetos and were happily munching away at it.
