  • Wow, you must be really bored!

Dayton roads are covered in ice, our parking lot is covered in ice (which I discovered as I landed on my back walking to the front door), half the store called off, and YOU, you, old annoying obviously bored person, found it necessary to come to my place of employment and casually browse the ONE aisle that three people were working in, in the entire store.

Seriously, who comes out in an ice storm to simply look at shampoo without buying anything? She was in that aisle constantly making me move my cart for nearly an hour. Even the manager that was working with me was rolling her eyes after a while.

That's Ohio for you. I live in Northwest Ohio and the other day when we had gotten some freezing rain the first 5 people in the store were probably in their 70's+. One guy only came in to get copies. I couldn't believe it. It was yucky enough that if I hadn't had to be at work, I wouldn't have been out!

How can a non-employee possibly spend an entire hour in a shampoo aisle?! Good grief. People baffle me.

It's uncanny how there always seems to be a person right where you wanted to be working. But it's just annoying when you're busy cleaning/straightening an area and someone comes over and just has to browse in that exact spot at that exact time. Bonus points if they mess up everything you've been doing

Because one must be certain they are choosing the correct combination of shampoo and conditioner, as they are in the epic struggle between hair and man. They are fighting the age old battle of finding the correct balance so they they have clean, shiny silky smooth hair while maintaining the perfect amount of moisterizing to avoid split ends!

Shampoo is better. It goes on first and cleans the hair.
No, conditioner is better. I leave the hair silky and smooth.

I can explain it, what's it say on every shampoo bottle?

Common Sense - They no haz it!

I'd figure they're the same type of person to drive to a mall/store/eatery during a state of emergency too and bitch that they're closed. Just because, they ALWAYS go to those places, so there's no reason for them NOT to be open. It's a strange SC logic...

We have a Dump bin for $5 movies that we need to have looking good (Organizing the movies in two layers of rows, standing up no real sorting method) at least by the time the last daytime associate goes home, but if we have enough time/people we'll try to get it straightened up.

We also tell customers who ask things like "how often do you straighten this up?" that the bin is a mess within 30 minutes of us fixing it because... usually it is.

When I worked at Mart of Wall we found they sold better when messy. We would clean it an it would stay clean for days. As soon as on person went digging in more would look. I always equated it to digging for treasure. After a while they stopped asking us to clean it. Seven years later it is just a heap and I have to look for treasure myself every time.

Have you noticed it's ALWAYS THE OLD PEOPLE? And not even the sprightly old people, no; it's the frail ones, the ones who make you think, "should this person even be driving?" I've got some very old regulars at the credit union whom I love dearly, and when they showed up during the Day of Ice and talked about all the errands they were planning on getting done I was sincerely worried about them. Go home, guys! Be safe! I wanna see you next week!

Maybe this is just me, but...when I see a bin of that sort that's neat and tidy, the thought of messing it up makes me really, really anxious! I don't wanna destroy an associate's hard work, or make it harder for other people to find things.

When it's already a heaping mess, though? Well, then I can't possibly make it any worse, so I don't feel as bad.

                          Yeah, it's...weird.

A lot of seniors will go out and be sucky non-customers at many stores, just to get out of the house. They don't want to be at home, because then they'd have to run the heat all day, this can be very expensive for someone on a fixed income.

That happens a lot at the library.......our rock cd section and the children's non-fiction area seem to attract people who like to spend long periods of time browsing/blocking aisles. Which makes it frustrating trying to shelve or tidy up in those areas - not sure if we're "allowed" to ask people to move.
