  • Wait..I got the race card pulled on me??

((Hmm wondering if this counts as a sighting or CoC..or what. Person was no longer a Co-Worker, not 'technically' a customer. If Mods need to move it, feel free))

Ok, while I was a cashier..or a CSM..or several other jobs I've had the race card pulled on me. In six years as a security person, this is the first time. I am still about it.

[BG]When somebody is fired, we are to escort them off the premises. Immediately. Anything they have in a locker will be collected, they will be called, and they will be let in as far as the security door ONE time to collect said items. Until they are called, and anytime after, they are to be considered trespassing when on company grounds. No exceptions.

While we are clearing out any lockers/desks/etc they might have, there must be two witnesses. The person's immediate supervisor, an a fellow employee in the same department as the person who's items are being reclaimed. Each item must be listed, and all three persons initials put next to it. Again, no exceptions. [/BG]

(As I have a rather poor memory, this isn't the word for word conversation, but the gist is there).

    Strike one.

An hour after the person (here after referred to as RG for Random Guy) is escorted off the premise he is back. We haven't even had time to retrieve items, let alone have them called back.

    RG - Random Guy
    M - Me

RG - I want to collect my things!
M - We haven't had time to get them, we can't let you in, you'll be called when we have them.
RG - You can't keep my stuff, I want it..and I want it NOW!
M - I'm going to have to ask you to leave, or I will call the police for trespassing.
RG - Call them for theft too! This company is stealing my stuff! (ok bonus points for not saying "You guys" or otherwise trying to blame us).
M - You'll get it back. Now please leave. *picks up the phone*
RG - *mumbles something..I can't make it out, but I have a feeling it wasn't flattering, but leaves*

We get everything ready, call him back the next day (I was still on duty, it had taken only a few hours, but 'technically' the next day)

    Strike Two.

RG comes in, looks at our list, and ...

RG - Such and such is missing! You stole my stuff! I knew you were going to steal my stuff! (Bonus points hereby revoked. )
M - We didn't steal anything. Everything removed from any of the areas you worked at had two witnesses.
RG - Don't lie to me!!! It's because I'm black that you think you can get away with stealing my stuff!
M - Did..did you just pull the race card? (My brain malfunctioned, and yes I said this out loud)
RG - D&*N Right I did. You can't treat me like this, just because I am black! I demand my stuff!
M - (Still trying to clear BSoD from my brain)..Wait one second. *Picks up the phone, calls the witnesses. One of which happened to be a black female, and his boss*.
M - Yes, could you come to the front desk please?

We wait a bit, the witnesses come to the desk.

    RGB - Random Guys Boss.
    RGCW - Random Guys Co-Worker.

Strike Three. Sorry, your out..thanks for playing.

RGB - What seems to be the problem?
    M - *explains situation*
RGB - I was there the whole time, signed for everything, and there was nothing left out.
RG - Your in with them? We have to stick together! They took my stuff!
RGCW - How? With us standing right there?
RG - First they fire me because I am black, now they steal from me!
M - Your going to have to leave, if you have an issue get with HR.
RG - I won't let this go, this company, you, and the rest will be hearing from my Lawyer!! *rants on the way out the door with his stuff*
RGB - What in the heck was that?!
RGCW - I have no idea...
M - Don't look at me, this is a first for me in Security. Your guess is as good as mine.

Edit : I don't know why the individual was fired, and will only learn if the company thinks I should know. And yes, he actually admitted to 'pulling the race card'. Now..how to explain this to my boss, this situation is down right .. weird.

I have customers that admit to pulling the race card all the time... I feel like it voids it though.

Judging from this guy's reaction to things, I wonder why he got fired

seriously this is the first time you've had the race card pulled as a security guard? Man just the other day I had it pulled on me 5 different times in 5 separate incidents in the same day

Well I don't deal with your typical 'customers'. Only employees, ex-employees, contractors, and people visiting employees.

That's it, I'm starting a collectible card game for CSRs.

There's the Lawyer Card, the Friend of the Boss Card, the Forgotten/Lost ID Card Card, the Insane Request Card, the Demand for a Supervisor Card, the Refusal to Listen to Reason Card, the Laws of Man Don't Apply to Me Card, and finally, we've got the Race Card (worth double if played against someone the same race as the complainer).

So, who wants to do the art work?
Sorry, my cow died so I don't need your bull

I want these cards. I want them soooo much. I can picture myself flashing the corresponding card to a coworker when I'm on the phone handling a complaint and I want to make it a reality.
You know that feeling you get when you lean too far back in a chair and you find yourself falling, but catch yourself just in time? I feel like that all the time.

Can we give bonus points if the Race Card is played over the phone? I had a lady who accused me of being racist and hadnt even told me her name and I sure as hell cant see someone over the phone. After about an hour and a half she finally told the sup her phone number allowing her to pull up the account.

Im guessin she mihgt have been latino from the name, she sounded as white as I am (I could stand outside naked in a snowstorm and disappear) but you can hardly guess someones ethnicity based on thier name or how they pronounce thier words I cant anyway. According to accounts notes she tried playing the race card everytime she had called in for the past 4 months. The past month she was only calling in to complain about the racist rep she had talked to... no other complaint at all. Just a desperate plea in an attempt to get credits to her account, which were denied everytime.

Edit: Every rep she talked to was apparantly racsist and she was only ever complaining about the previous rep she had talked to. No issues with her bill, service, phone. She was calling in for no reason to begin with.

Okay, I hodge-podged a few ideas together to come up with the first edition of the CSR Collectible Card Set (patent pending ). As a special bonus to the previously listed cards, I added the "I'll Have Your Job" Card for a total of nine cards. All artwork/photos I used *appear* to be in the public domain. The pics are hosted on my PhotoBucket account, just look for EvilEmpryss.

There is nothing that is NSFW on that site.

Tho I think you should replace the Catbutt face image with this one.
