A customer called us wanting to buy one of our parts that we have on eBay with credit card over the phone. I gave him the usual "you can only buy online through PayPal" speech.

His response was "but my PayPal account was shutdown because of some fraud thing. Can't I just give you a card number?"

WTF?? No!

It may be that his PayPal account was hacked and used by someone else to commit fraud.

But in that instance I would expect PayPal to allow him to set up a new account.

So I don't have too much sympathy here.

PayPal has a system set up to recover your account after a hack, so that shouldn't stop anyone from using PayPal to make payments.

Can't you use a CC for something through Paypal without having an account with them? I've done it buying several things...

Because we want the PayPal transaction to be attached to the eBay transaction in eBay.

ETA- And we do have that option for our ProStores store.
