That was also what the artist I hired for books 4 & 5's cover art did. I didn't get the picture until she got the money order.
Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.

Honestly, how many places of business these days give you the product before you send the money? You order online, you pay before it's shipped. You go to the store, you pay before they let you take the merch out of the building. You go to a fast food place, you pay before they let you leave the counter with the food. Just about the only place you get the product first is a sit-down restaurant. So why do so many people seem to think they can get their services/product/whatever from a small business type and then get away without paying?

It's been said a few times in this thread..

The reason why I refuse to go into business for myself to fix people's computers is because of jackasses who do shit like what you're experiencing right now.
I can't say it any better myself, I have been toying with the idea because I am learning more and more people are willing to pay heavily for computer repairs, rates I think are outrageous, then I begin to think, In a matter of 30-60 minutes on average for some of the services these companies provide is what I currently make in an eight hour day. Which is why I'm working towards the A+ certification

If I do decide to make a business you have helped me know I must get contracts from those I don't really know or trust, and it never hurts to be covered. Also, would suggest in your contract you have a clause that only performed repairs and alterations would be covered under some sort of a warranty. Nothing worse than replacing a hard drive, then a month later the customers video card dies because it an old computer, not really the techs fault. But as it seems I just want to work for a company rather than directly for potential shady people.
I'm sorry reading is not a new concept it has been widely taught in our nation for at least the past 100 years. Please, learn to do it CORRECTLY before you become contagious.

I warranty my work for 14 days; if it dies again I'll only charge for parts. If something completely unrelated to the original job dies (I replace the hard drive and the graphics card croaks) I get to decide whether it's "my fault" (usually the user was messing around where they shouldn't be and borked something up, or the computer had bigger problems).

No longer am I advertising my services on Craigslist; that way lies madness.
