  • Alcohol and its mixes. (long)

Well from the title I’m sure you can probably guess what happens. I have been a Desk Clerk for a number of years now and I have seen everything including this but just the opposite of what I’m about to describe. See Usually when a drunk customer comes in early in the morning, say around 3:30am they just pay what they owe and check out at 11am. Yes, yes I know that not enough time to sleep anything off but at least they can get some what sober enough to get back home, or they pay to keep the room till the next day and check out then. Well this was not the case for this particular morning. One of the regular customers comes in drunk as all get out, literally I can smell them from 3 feet away that’s how much she had, and she wants a room but she wants to check out at 4pm instead of the time that is set for all guest to check out which is 11am. I inform her the if she checks in now she will have to check out at this time. I say she is a regular mainly because she comes to stay with various men, her so called “friends”. On this morning she could have been with her “friend” or not, I’m not sure because she came in by her self. This was the conversation that proceeded.

SC: Hello sweetie (she likes to call me that because she thinks her and I are friends but not in the friends that I described earlier)
Me: Hello and good morning, how can I help you?
    SC: I need a room.
Me: Alright and just what kind of room, a single, double, or a suite?
SC: Well what can I get for $55 dollars?
Me: You can rent a single, and if you check in now check out time is still 11am
SC: Well can’t you pull some strings for me because you’re my friend?
Me: No ma’m im sorry I am not a manager and I do not have the authority to do so.
SC: Well how much extra would it be to stay till 4pm?
Me: Well being that check out is 11am you would have to pay for a full day to check out at that time, I’m sorry but we do not pro rate our rooms.
SC: Oh come on friend you can do something.
    Me: I’m sorry ma’m but I cannot.
SC: This Is some bull !@#$.
Me: I understand your inconveniences’ ma’m but there is no reason for you to curse at me
SC: I don’t understand your hotel hasn’t had this problem with me staying here before, why all of a sudden now?
Me: I have explained this to you every time you have checked in with me ma’m.
SC: Well your hotel didn’t have a problem with my friend staying here for over a month and only paying X amount a night.
Me: Ma’m that was something he discussed with management. I have no control over what they do.
SC: This is an outrage! Just what dose you managers think they are doing?
Me: They are trying to increase our revenue, this is a business.
SC: Well I’m a business woman I know how to run a business. I come here every week and stay for less than what your saying in a suite.
Me: Ma’m, Again I am sorry for the inconvenience, We have recently changed management personnel and we are trying to get this hotel back up to corporate standards.
SC: Well you can tell management that they lost a F!@#ing customer, and I want you to tell them that.
Me: I will tell them that ma’m the next time I speak with them.
    SC: Good!, I’m leaving.
    Me: Have a nice day

She stormed out in a fit of anger never to be heard from again, which is fine by me I didn’t like her anyway, always making passes at me when she has had a few to many that slurs her speech. But here is the thing we have had new management for a good 6 or 7 months now, and they increased our prices to drive out the sleaze that stays here and so far they have complied with our inflation and have continued to stay. I told management about it the next day, and they were just as thrilled as i was that she has not returned, and told me that I did a good job and stood my ground like I should have. Whatever I’m just glad to not be solicited with her boring stories anymore about how much she has had to drink and where she has been, ugh that kind of drunk sickens me.

Something tells me that with this particular 'businesswoman' that phrase is likely quite literal.

Ooh yes I have had to deal with guests like this before. It really got bad when one guy checked in at 4am Thursday night and wanted the same rate for Friday. As I was trying to explain to him whey the rates were so different and why I was not going to change them the "assistant manager" came over and with out finding out what was going on told him "no you (guest) are right you already paid for today (Friday) I will talk with Hellzar". For the next few months after that he would come in and ask when "assistant manager" and yell if she was not going to be working.
