  • You Seem Stable.

I'm currently being harassed by a guy on eBay. I just finished sending a report member thing into eBay about it.

About once a day I get someone from another country asking if I can ship to their country "just this once" because "they really need it."

Friday this guy calls us and wants us to ship to Canada. CW fields the call and had to essentially hang up on him because he got so nasty on the phone when she kept telling him that we don't ship outside of the US. He had this attitude like "it doesn't make sense that I'm not getting my way. Just do what I ask."

Today he messages us on eBay asking if we ship to Canada then, in the same message, demands that we do so no matter what. I send him the normal, polite response I send to everyone. So he replies to me 3 times with things like "I don't understand why you don't ship to Canada," "Canada is next door to Florida" () and "Whatever, just ship it USPS today."

The final message was the kicker. He wants to buy another board in addition to the first board he wants (because the 2nd board is going to make me trump company policy even though this guy is a total ass) then he ends the email with this:

"I love you. No hard feelings."

Because flipping out on an eBay seller isn't quite weird enough, you have to add "I love you" into the mix?? Really??? This actually made me feel 100% creeped out. Like wanting to go home and shower creepy. I haven't responded to him past the first email and definitely don't intend to now. I'm just glad he's a country away.

Yeah, when I look at a map of North America with drunk goggles I get the same thing, but I assure you it's just the booze talking.

At least he pushed you far enough to allow you to add your own handling charges. Nothing wrong with taking time out of your work day/night or day off to personally ship him the items. Because of that, what's preventing you from charging a HUGE handling fee to pocket yourself for your time and effort? He wants to feel victorious or superior, so you can write, "Well sir, you've pushed me over the edge and I'm giving in. Because of this I'm tacking on a $200 non-refundable handling charge as well as a $100 shipping charge to the item price of $XXX.XX. I'm glad we've come to an agreement that is mutually beneficial to us, in that you can get this item shipped to Canada even though we've told you numerous time that we do not, and that I can profit from this sale as I am part of a business and not a charity."

It's not stealing since you're conducting a business transaction that's benefitting you, your business, and the customer.

On the other hand, is there a reason he can't just ship it to a friend or relative in the US who can then ship it to him?

I'm in Florida. I always thought it was Alabama above me, not Canada. Hm, learn something new every day.

I've met plenty of people from both places, and other than the accent, not really sure what the difference is.

And I have no idea who's going to get more offended by that one, Alabamans or Canadians!

Canada IS above Florida, you just have a very flexible definition of "above".

Or just do what my uncle does-ships it to us so the amount of shit stuff he buys clogs up a corner of my room then comes and gets it once a year when he can be bothered to make the 4 hour trip to collect it!

Why yes he smuggles it over the border to avoid the import fees. I can't say I blame him but I'm tired of having piles of his crap er...priceless treasures in MY room.

Ah, but the idiot in the OP did not say that Canada was "above" Florida, but "next door" to it.

I know I'm better in geography than the average person, but you have to be downing a whole hell of a lot of stupid pills to think that Florida is NEXT to Canada in any way, shape, or form.

Well, yes, next door when you compare where this guy's mind currently is, which is somewhere around Mars

I assume so- he has buying history according to his profile.

Me? I generally stop using "next door" right around the 4 digit mark in terms of miles. But, what do I know? I'm just an eBay seller who is too stupid to ship to Canada. :P

A handling fee that large is probably very much against ebay policy.

Besides, it's the OP's auction; the OP's rules apply. No delivery to Canada means no delivery to Canada. Period. The end. The bidder should just be happy he isn't being reported for unwelcome bidding, in addition to the OP's report about the harassment.

It would probably cause the OP to lose seller protection and automatically lose an item not received dispute, even if it's fraudulent.

Seller protection generally doesn't apply to transactions where the item is paid for by person A but is to be shipped to person B who then ships it to person A.
