My first customer today was a guy who wanted to return a somewhat expensive instant read meat thermometer that he claimed was not working. First thing I noticed is that it did not have a tag on the package. These thermometers do not have a UPC on the package so we have to tag each one with a store tag. I asked him for a receipt, didn't have one (he mentioned he was from Mississippi). I asked him how long he has had it, several months. So I tell him first of all I cannot take it back as he has no proof he purchased it from us. Second, after 30 days we do not take back certain products that malfunction, it's not our warranty, it's the manufacturers. He gets mad, throws it down and leaves. No skin off my sack. I try it out later, works fine. I threw it in a drawer, if he never returns for it I have a new thermometer.
