  • Oh snap! Short

A wee bit of background: I work for a photo studio that lies inside the good ole' Wally World.

I was on my computer doing a bit of...computering (i.e. bored out of my mind and trying to get some backlogged work done).

Mr. Smooth walks by and comes up with this great gem

MS: How much would it cost for me to take your picture? (cue eyebrow waggle and obvious "subtle" inuenndo)

As he is still walking by (not really stopping), I mutter back...

WS: More than you can afford...

Now, I thought I said it quiet enough, but SOMEONE in his group of friends heard and they teased him. I could hear them poking fun at him as they kept walking.

I love when my BTM fails in such an awesome way!

See, I'm a bad man, I'd take that as invite to continue flirting, I'd probably say "Try me." or some other such response if I was to get caught in that, but I have to be in a flirting mood to start.

I hated guys who hit on me at work. I just wanted to do my job, deal with the SCs as quickly as possible, and a guy hitting on me just made my job that much more complicated.

I admit to having done this a few times in my younger, single years; although I always backed off immediately when the girl in question seemed uncomfortable with it.

I realize it can easily create an unpleasant situation for the worker in question; unlike a bar or any other public place, they can't just leave or tell the flirty customer to get lost, or they jeopardize their employment. For me, that kinda took the enjoyment out of flirting; plus, no longer single...

Now, I'll still chat with and compliment, say, a pretty waitress, if she seems to be in a chatty mood (and I'm not in danger of being smacked by my girlfriend....); and, yeah, I tend to tip more if the waitress is female and pretty, but other than that, I try to spare women at work from my amorous advances

And: I hope that I was never as blunt and uninventive as the guy in the OP; but then again, don't we all think that?
You gotta polish a memory like a stone. Chip off the parts that remind you it was just a game. Work it until it's indistinguishable from any other memory.
