One of my endearing traits is after the pain has subsided I have the ability to laugh at my own pain.

Usually because many of my misfortune is hilarious in retrospect. My mother is deathly afraid that she'll read about my death on Fark.com with a "Dumbass" tag next to the headline.

As for revenge? There was no one to get revenge on. I was living alone at the time, the hot plate was one of those candle warmers and the bead chain was on the shelf above the hotplate and fell.

So either something shook the house (not difficult to do since a cow farting the next county over could rattle the china) or the underpants gnomes were on the prowl again.

as a former cutter, i can say that there is a huge difference between regular scratches and deliberate cuts...the woman has no idea what she's blabbering about.

Hah! Female human (that's as charitable as I can be) who doesn't recognize puppy teeth marks when she sees 'em but DOES have a distinct 'hero complex' so interprets the marks as what she needs them to be in order to 'rescue' you from yourself.

Next time that happens, honey, laugh. Laugh as if you were about to wet yourself at the idea. People like this get REALLY offended when you deny them the opportunity to feel like a hero, but that's all they deserve. It's one thing to be genuinely concerned for someone, but it's quite different when that concern is a mask for obnoxiously controlling behaviour.

And the woman in the drive through obviously never had any pets of her own if she couldn't recognize the marks on your arms for what they were. Hell, my dad has two dogs of his own, and if he doesn't keep their claws trimmed the claws could count as deadly weapons.

Anyone who works in a kitchen or even cooks a lot at home is going to have random cut and burn marks on their hands and arms. I'm rather proud of my burn scars, actually. I consider them advertisement for all the time I spend in the kitchen!
