Weirdest thing happened today.
Some backround: I work at McD's and I was doing counter orders at this time.
So this guy walks in and I start taking his order and a few seconds into his order a lady walks in and stands right next to him at the counter, practically shoulder to shoulder. I finish taking the guy's order and then he points at the lady and says something about getting her order, so at this point I assume they are together and she just came in after him especially since they are standing very close to be strangers.
So I add her food onto his order and read it back to them and then it gets really strange. They BOTH start yelling at me about how they aren't together and they don't know each other and they are seperate. WTF?
Reasons this is so sucky:
1. If you are strangers then why oh why did you come in and plop yourself right next to him? Respect his personal space lady and stand in a line. Side by side at the counter is not a reasonable line.
2. To the guy- WTF? Why on earth would you think that it would be normal for me to take your order, pause, then take her order, only charge her for her food, and then have you pay for yours?
3. I can't even do what I just described. I can't pause a transaction. Either he would have to pay and finish up like a normal person or I would have to void his order, do her order, and then re-enter his order.
4. I wasn't even going to take her order onto his until HE TOLD ME TO! Apparently "what he meant" was that I should hurry and take care of her first, which would have been great, HAD HE NOT ALREADY ORDERED. All I need is your payment dude, WTF?
Like I seriously don't even know what happened there. I'm still very confused. The only thing I can think is that he was trying to scam the lady hoping she had a big order and I wouldn't read it back to her and then his food would be on her order and he would get it for free. But then that wouldn't even work because I would give his food to her...
I don't know. I'm confused. So what do you guys think? Weird, not thought through scam? Or did he just think it was normal to let people go ahead of you in the MIDDLE of a transaction?
I think the strangest part was after they finished screaming at me I said, "Okay sir, I need you to pay for your order before I can take hers. I don't know WHY you would have thought I could do it the way you were suggesting." and he seemed VERY confused. Makes me wonder what shopping with him is like.
