  • The suck approaches...

I just got off the phone with a guy who's coming up from South Florida to our shop in Central Florida to buy a part. The only thing is, it's an as-is part.

We tried discouraging the guy from coming up, but he was insistent- he's totally going to blow like $60-70 in gas on a $20 core part that I could have expressed shipped to him for $25. His logic is that he's already been on the road for 2 hours, so he might as well keep going. He also swears up and down that it's NOT an as-is part (it says so on the listing, BTW), which should make things interesting. Boss' wife told him rather bluntly that if he was coming up here expecting to buy a good part with a warranty, he was very wrong because it says in the listing that it's an as-is part.

He's coming anyway. There is going to be SUCH highlighter and red pen abuse on the receipt.

I am actually really excited about this.

He's probably going to use his mom's car and not refill the tank. Besides that, he is going to be a big douche, and he's going to go home then keep on calling you for months, bitching how you guys lied to him.
Time! Time! Time is what turns kittens into cats.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.

    I wish porn had subtitles.

As expected, he got all pissy when we stood our ground that we wouldn't test and warranty the as-is part that.

      "But I drove fiiiiive hoooooooooooooooooooours!!!!"

And? It's not our problem you didn't read the listing or call first.

He paid and left, but I bet this isn't the last of it.

Ahhh, Florida...btw, for those of you not in the area, we're getting pounded by rain and severe thunderstorms here today, so not only did he drive for 5 hours, he has to drive back for 5 hours, all in this lovely weather. I just hope he doesn't cause an accident involving someone else. (OK, I'll even extend my wishes that he doesn't get hurt...he might actually have family and friends who are decent people and would be adversely affected by him being hurt or killed.)

I actually should have been clearer- he called us on the road. He should have called before he drove 2 hours. :P
