A while back I remember reading about a girl who did her psychology thesis on WHY people ignore signs. She sat in an empty college classroom that had a big "Do not enter - testing in progress" sign on the door that could NOT be missed - and every time somebody opened the door, she'd ask them to come in and question them as to WHY they did that, even though the sign told them not to. I tried googling but couldn't find a reference to it.
