  • Discount scammer

I work as a part time cashier and I just love catching scammers off guard.

    I saw that

    Me:
    DB: discount Bitch

I was watching the store, and I saw the DB grabbing regular priced item and placing it in our discount basket. Then she left the store for ten minutes and comes back and grabs the item in the discount basket and procedes to my register. I'm going to enjoy playing this little scam game with her.

Me: *rings up the regular priced item for $8.99*
DB: that was supposed to be 75% off.
Me: no mam, it's $8.99 as stated on the regular price.
DB: It was in that discount basket for 75% off.
Me: Oh you mean that time when you dropped this $8.99 item in the discount basket about 10 minutes ago.
    DB:
    DB: You're lying
Me: No mam, I saw you doing that and so did our store camaras.
    DB: that's Bullsh*t
Me: Would you like me to get the manager and you and him can look through the camaras and see the little scam that you pulled?
DB: F*ck this *stomps and leaves the store*

I told the manager about the incident and he laughed.

I have sadly had that happen where I wanted to buy something and it was in discount bin and turned out it wasn't supposed to be there. I think a large number of "people" enjoying walking around the store and place items in the wrong places, really annoying when you see a package of beef in the cereal isle and wonder.... will some worker end up putting spoiled meat back in the cooler?
I'm sorry reading is not a new concept it has been widely taught in our nation for at least the past 100 years. Please, learn to do it CORRECTLY before you become contagious.

I've done something similar once. Didn't actually call out the customer (mostly because while I was pretty sure she was the one who switched price stickers on the products, I didn't see her do it and therefore wasn't 100% sure). But when she protested a "sale" item ringing up full price, I examined the stickers and then said, "Oh, I'm sorry, it looks like some other customer must have switched the stickers on this item. Let me just fix that...." Then I pulled off the erroneous sticker, which was already broken showing that it had obviously come off of a different item. Got a catbutt face but no argument to that one.

I generally use the same line when someone tells me an expensive item was on a sale shelf. "Oh, I'm sorry, sometimes people don't put back items when they decide they don't want them anymore and then leave them on the sale shelves."

I even had a coworker admit that when she was a teen she liked going into stores and moving goods around just for the giggles.

The big problem at my store now is people taking sales tags when they're up, then coming back after the sale ends, placing the tag back on the shelf, then demand we give it to them for the sale price because "the sign is still up". Yes, it is...because you put it there.

Why do people insist on wanting a lower price when an item was placed in the wrong spot by a different lazy customer? I can prove that the tag it was in front of is for something completely different. I can get you the item the tag was originally for, but no, I'm not giving you this item because someone put it in the wrong spot. Seriously, when this happens when I'm shopping, I kick MYSELF for not reading the tag closer.

I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

                  This is a question?

Because people are cheap, cheap, cheap. Our prices are artificially low anyway, but we still insist disposable CRAP is "too expensive."
