    just a couple of breasts

    Some background first. i work at a convienence store that sells food, we have a fryer and make mexican food and other yummy bits. end background
    Had a guy come in and order two chicken breasts and cigs, and something else. after i ring him up, he decided that he didnt *want* the chicken, it was too expensive i said "well, you'd get them for the same price at KFC" and he said "i dont care, i dont want them."so i tossed them, right in front of him.

      i know! i have to, i cant be seen putting them back into the warmer. we might get in trouble for that. but STILL. the dang prices are *right*...oh yeah. forgot where i was...

        My guess is the customer knew they couldn't be returned to the warmer and was hoping the OP would just 'give' them to him rather than throw them away.

          There, there...It'll be OK, they can just go to the mythical Back Room and grow some more fried chicken...

          In the US, at least, you really do have to do this once food has been handled, per the Board of Health. It's also why all-you-can eat buffets have serving tools and tongs on EVERY item. If even one item in a bin gets touched by a customer's hands -- or worse, put on their plate and then returned to the bin -- the entire bin must be tossed because of potential contamination.

            This guy I used to be friends with a long time ago once bragged about getting some soup at a buffet, and after he took a taste, he decided he didn't like it and poured it back where he got it.

            The really frustrating part is, I used to work in retail with him, so he had no excuse for being a sucky customer. He should have known better. Another time we were out at Pizza Hut, and he spilled his soda all over the floor under the table, and not only did he refuse to tell the waitress, he wouldn't let me say anything either.

            Thinking back to shenanigans like that, I'm glad I haven't spoken to him in over 20 years.

              I was hoping this topic would be about something else. I feel disappointed.

                    Granted, I usually don't even go for chicken... but fried goodness chicken? YES plz.
                    I know why it got thrown out... and it only makes marginal sense for why the guy didn't 'want' it any more. *sigh*
