A New High In Customer Stupidity. Or: How Someone Lost Their Identity

At the tax office, the EI number of our franchise is printed on the customer's copies (tax ID number for paid preparers--near where one signs). This must be a quirk in our software as the number is formatted as a personal SS# (i.e. 123-45-6789 instead of 12-3456789). I wonder how many scammers (and we get our share) have tried to use that number for their schemes.
