I have been mistaken for a female a lot tbh. For me it's 2 fold:
I have long hair, and have had it since HS. In HS I didn't hold it back in a pony tail so I got called miss or lumped in with a group of girls fairly regularly, to the point where I actually got heckled for being a lesbian more than once :P
My phone voice, especially when greeting is higher pitched, and it's fairly common for people to call me miss or mam over the phone at work :P

(though her name gave it away too, it's very female)
asked everything very politely (for example: "can i borrow that pen" that's standing 3 meters to my left instead of just grabbing it like most people) and i've seen them once or twice since - they do turn some heads, and it's often hard not to stare at their tats when they're sitting close to me while talking, but they're starting to be a couple of my favorites!
