Side note on the dead deer - a call to the local jurisdiction where you dwell should get a road crew out there pretty quickly to take care of it.

A road crew already came and got it, thank goodness-they actually came while I was typing. XD Good thing too, there were pieces all over and I was dreading the thought of having to touch it, even if it was relatively fresh-there's just something different about touching splattered roadkill deer and gutting a deer that someone's shot, which I have done. It's probably just a mental thing, but it still grosses me out to handle roadkill, but it doesn't bother me in the slightest to pluck/skin/gut meat.
