Long post
This incident happened last Wednesday
The university I work at as a contract parking attendant has night school parking in the faculty/staff garage beginning at 5:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The parking office sells night school parking permits & access cards. The access cards are programmed to begin working at exactly 5:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The parking office will not let any night school student in before 5:45 p.m. Night school students have to park on the 2nd level of the faculty/staff garage.
Sucky male night school student arrives at 5:30 p.m., & drives up to the entrance gate. I see him swipe his card at the card reader, but the gate does not go up. He does that again, & then again. So he presses the call button on the call box. The call goes to campus police, who then transfer the call to the parking office. Missy *not her real name* calls me & tells me to walk up to the entrance gate & let sucky male night school student into the garage & out of the garage. Here is where the fun begins.
I walk up to the entrance gate. Sucky male night school student is speaking to Missy at the call box.
me: "I'm sorry, but you cannot get into the garage before 5:45 p.m. I have to raise the gate for you to enter & exit."
sucky male night school student *to Missy*: "you know we have been through this before. This is rediculous. All I want is to park in the garage. I am a night school student."
Missy asks me what he said. I tell her that he his upset because he cannot park.
Missy to sucky male night school student: "Sir, I have already told you several times that night school students cannot park in the garage until 5:45 p.m. The gate will not go up. You have to enter and exit."
Sucky male night school student *to Missy*: "Fine"
Missy tells me to raise the gate. She stays on the line. But...instead of exiting, he parks in a parking spot on the 1st level in full view of me.
I tell Missy where he is parked at. He walks up to me & says "I will talk to you about this." Missy says "Snugglegirl 05, what did he say?"
I tell her "he wants to talk to me about this."
Missy: "Tell him he can talk to me at the call box."
I motion for him to come to the call box. He does that. I leave, & I go back into the booth.
He walks up to the booth window & says the following...
"I would like a visitor parking pass & what is your name?"
The first level of the faculty/staff garage is temporarily being used for vsitors until the existing Visitor parking garage is done being rennovated. A second level is being added to that garage.
I give him the visitor parking pass, but I am hesitant to give him my name because I was doing what I was told to do by the parking office. So I call the parking office instead. That makes him mad. Missy answers, & I tell her exactly why I am calling. She tells me I can give him her name, but he does not need to know my name. He left before I could do that.
He drives up to the booth window the next day & actually apologizes for his sucky behavior. It turns out according to Missy *because I let her know that he apologized* that ...

- he went to the parking office & complained, still acting sucky
- the instructor who teaches the class he is taking found out about his sucky behavior & apologized to the parking office
- the instructor read him the riot act
