When our credit department got the 'I refuse to pay for it because my child stole my card' routine, the credit folks would agree to refund a charge IF the parent agreed to issue a police report about the stolen card, and help in prosecuting the kid for fraud.
Oddly, they never had to issue a refund.

That would be a treat... to see them having to face talking to the police

This sounds like those tech support customers "Oh my 16-year-old son couldn't have gotten those viruses on his personal PC from pornographic websites. He would never visit those sites. YOU must have hacked his computer and put them there."

You know, I'd love to know the conversation that happened when SC got off the phone. I'm sure it was quite...colorful. Also, sounds like SOMEONE *cough*SC*cough* owes the OP a HUGE apology. Of course, I know that will never happen. That would be what we call fantasy.

Me: *sends return labels and resumes call* Thanks for waiting. I've sent you two FedEx return labels. *explains where to put them and how to arrange return*
            SC: OK, hold on.
Son, in background: Hey, my laptop is here!
            SC, in background: What?!
SC, to me: I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU!
Me: Thanks for calling [us], have a wonderful, sunshine-filled day!
Okay wait, I'm confused. So basically, the SC (the mother I presume) called complaining about a charge on her credit card. She bitches you out and demands a refund. You tell her what to do with the return labels once she receives them.

The mother SC then tells you to hold on, and this is the point where the son announces his pleasure at receiving his new laptop.

Now, which SC said "What?!", and why on earth did the SC tell you that they were going to "fucking kill you!"? D: Or is that a typo?

Since the SC was referred to as a "ma'am" I suspect the reverse happened. Dad said it was OK and didn't tell Mom.

Although I would think she should be threatening her son for buying the computer, and not cybiko123 for telling her she could return it for a full refund.
              D'Oh!

              My point still stands.

And yes it could be someone who is an idiot teenager (as they can sometimes be) but I'm more inclined to believe with the level of nonchalance of the "My laptop's here" that it was a one parent not telling the other what was going on.
