SC - "I have this tablet and I would like some accessories and a case for it"

She pulls out the tablet. I notice that it's an HTC. Now, most of the tablet accessories we carry are for the iPad, because that's what most people want. But we do have a small selection of things for other tablets as well. I noticed we had just received some cases and shields for the HTC, so I took her to them.

Me - "Here's a case that should fit that perfectly !!"

I put the tablet in the case. It fit perfectly.

Me - "This one fits great. And it's a stand as well"
SC - " I'm not buying this. Can you find me someone who knows more and can get me what I asked for ? "
Me - " Ok. Wow. "

I couldn't believe she turned snotty in that short period of time.

Me - "You asked me for accessories for your tablet and I am showing them to you"
SC (very snottily) - "Never mind. Goodbye."

I stood there for a good minute or 2 in complete disbelief. You asked me for accesories for your tablet. I showed them to you. That wasn't good enough for you. I gave you precisely what you wanted and that made you angry ?

One of the most bizzare encounters I've ever had.

I've had that problem so many times in my life. Someone asks a specific question, I give them a specific answer, but apparently it's not what they wanted to hear. They want you to read their mind or use your intuition to "know" what they want, and get angry when you don't.

Or you're having a conversation, you respond to something they say, and they do a 180 into a screaming fit that would have Mr. Hyde saying, "Whoa, chill out!" And you have no clue what the hell just happened or why.

It's such a foolish way of doing things, but so many people do that. I wish I knew why. All I know is that it's frustrating as hell.

Pretty pathetic...most (good) people would be impressed that you saw what kind of tablet she had and found something so quickly. Even if it wasn't what they wanted most people would say "thanks, but I was thinking more along the lines of XYZ, do you have anything like that?" or some such. Maybe her medication wore off just after her first statement...
