For the record, this couple was at youngest 45 or so. And our cashier tonight is 18. I was straightening near the Halloween stuff and the couple was taking pictures of some kind of decoration. Picture-taking is not allowed in our stores without express permission (usually only news crews). I've been instructed before if I see it to let people know. As I walked by I called out (not loudly, even--just enough to get their attention from several feet away) "Oh, we don't allow people to take pictures in here." The woman responded, "Are you kidding??" Why would I take the time to make something up? I have 10 minutes to get all of toys done. I answered, "No, I'm serious. It's a company policy." I went around the corner and they kept going on about it. When they got to the front to check out, they complained to the cashier that I "yelled" at them, they were "valued customers" and that they tell all their friends to shop with us, yada yada yada. Know what we value? People who accept the rules.

Quoth Anakah View PostI know how you feel. In my casino pics and any kind of video is NOT allowed. I'm curious about why it's not allowed where you work but hey rules are there for a reason.Knowledge is power. Power corrupts. Study hard. Be evil.

Quoth PatchO'Black View PostThere are a few reasons I've heard for "no pictures" rules in retail businesses. Sometimes, it is to protect "trade secrets" regarding lay-outs, signage, and such, thought this is rare. More common, it is to prevent criminals from "casing" a place and using the pictures to plan out a theft. Another common reason is to prevent someone from using the photos to lodge a legal complaint, which is typically for some minor or staged violation.
