I had a guy come up with two packs of gum and a coupon in his hand. I ring up the gum and go to scan the coupon and check the date. Expiration date-1/10. That's right, January 2010.
I tell the guy I can't accept it since it's been expired for nearly two years now. He claims he just got it. He bought $50 worth of groceries and just got it the other day. So I call a manager and he tells his story again. He just got it the other day and he doesn't understand why it would print the wrong date on it. We may want to have someone come out and look at that. Eventually he got the point and left without his gum and let us keep the coupon. The manager just tossed it.
I guess he get points for sticking to his story. But getting a $2 coupon for buying $50 dollars worth of groceries doesn't seem like much of a deal.
