  • SC gets pwned.

This tale is from my dh.

So he gets a call shortly before his shift ends. The SC he got was refusing to give any info to pull up his account. SC kept saying how frustrating that must be for my husband. Finally he gives him what he needs. My husband discovers that SC needs to go to a different department. Then the pwnage. That dept closed for the night. My husband did tell me that he did resist the urge to ask how frustrating that must be.

One of the major issues I encountered at my one and only call center job was when customers intentionally with held info I needed to help them.
We had a no hang up policy no matter what.

Was said department open when the SC called, and their wastage of time caused them to be too late.

The department was open when he called, but his screwing around trying to make my husband's job harder only caused him to have to call back tomorrow. Hopefully he will have learned his lesson....but I doubt it.

No, he'll probably now be saying that if your husband knew how to do his job properly, he could've read the customer's mind and figured out where to send the call ... but I hope next time he calls, if he gets your hubby again, he can hear the big grin on your hubby's face when he asks for the necessary information ...

Your husband probably should have said that last line, just so the SC could be properly pwned and have his face rubbed in it. Your husband could always say that he was just trying to sympathize with the customer's frustration... >)

I like "I'm terribly sorry, but that department closed 5 minutes ago. Their hours are x-x. Have a wonderful night!"

This here is the very definition of self pwnage. I hate to say it, but your husband did not pwn the SC. SC did this all on his own.

Yep, and he deserved it. Take a lesson buddy; if you need assistance, not being an asshole will get you a lot further than being an asshole will.

Ah these calls are so much fun. Now the company I work for likes to tell us we have the authority to do whatever is needed to help the customer. Which is great. There are about a dozen ways I can look up info..but if no info is given..that is useless. We can hang up in certain situations, but if they are not cursing and are responding..yep can't hang up. So we go 45 minutes to do something that should take 2 minutes..tops..if the system is being slow that day.
Engaged to the amazing Marmalady. She is my Silver Dragon, shining as bright as the sun. I her Black Dragon (though good honestly), dark as night..fierce and strong.

I've never understood the folks who dole out vital, required information in little bits and pieces, or treat what they're asking for as if it were some sort of state secret.

You have to pry every little detail out of them, usually while they treat you as if you're imposing on them intolerably for doing so. As if allowing you to help them is some sort of massive undeserved favor they're doing for you.

And half the time, at least in my experience, they end up lying to you about at least some of it anyway. Resulting in the help they receive not being helpful, because it's the wrong help...which they could have avoided simply by not keeping what they need help with secret!
