    Wait...grandmother right?! Hmm.

While i'm not usually an advocate of this approach, might a good old fashioned guilt trip work?

"But GMIL, he owes me £xxx, that's £xxx i was going to spend on BabySuper/That's £xxx worth fo food he's taken out of BabySuper's mouth. I have to protect my family, if i'm making stuff for free i can't make stuff for money, and your great grandchild suffers because i'm not bringing in enough money."

    Adjust as needed of course.

Ugh, I feel you. I honestly think places like Walmart have ruined things for people that do handmade things like sewing or jewelry. People are like, but I can go get this at walmart for 5.00 why do you charge 50? Well probably because what you want is something no one else will have, materials cost me money, and you have to pay me for my time. I can't offer advice though because I am a total pushover sometimes. Make me mad enough and I will tell you off but it takes a lot to get me mad unfortunately.

Yeah, we've talked about the way his family treats me. He's basically told me I need to deal with them myself.
Oh HELL no! He needs to MAN UP. When it's his family vs you, it's his job as husband to not only be on your side, but to protect you from them.

I'd give GMiL a load of gold-colored cahins, a flourescent pink feather boa... (imagine the rest of the costume) and tell her: "If you're going to be selling my ass on the street, be honest and dress like a pimp!"

This, this, a thousand times this. My husband has a lot of flaws but he's stood up for me to his family more than once (and usually I have no problem with them so it's rare, but it's happened). That is part of a good marriage...his responsibility is to you as his wife, his life partner, not to his grandmother.

Oh man. I sew for a living, but I avoid doing clothing-type commissions like the PLAGUE. Plushes are bad enough, with people thinking they ought to be five bucks because that's what they are at Walmart, cothing seems to be even worse! I don't blame you for getting out of it.

my view is if a man cant stand up for his wife then he should not be married

no wife should have to put up with their in-laws critisism. hubby should put a stop to that pronto and if they dont stop then hubby needs to tell them that he will not be in contact with anyone who insults/critisises his family

can you tell im getting old and grumpy? lol

lol, it's ok georgie, I'm grumpy, too. Trust me, we've had the stand up to your family for me talk before, it's part of how I managed to get a restraining order against his parents.

plushies . . . I loves me some plushies. So soft and cuddly. I do enjoy my bags when I get to do them and I'm going to start using the fabric I'm designing

When I first met him, he wanted some pants for Burning Man
That should have been your first clue. Met plenty of good people from there, but lots of strung out druggies. The first problem might be just a minor snaffu but after the second issue it's best to just walk away
