It was one of those days where one thing fucked it all up today. I'll see if i can explain this clearly enough. New girl...we'll call her Y...was on the till, running it as training today. Co-worker W was on the second register, and I was doing my monthly shelf cleaning. Well, co-worker Y called me to the front after a while. Seems a couple had come in and bought a cartion of cigs, and realized they were the wrong kind. No problem, refund them...So we do. Oh, no, they want a carton of a different style, same brand. Okay. Charge them for that--same amount as the refund. Then we realize the carton they returnedo nly had 9 packs in it. Y runs outside, manages to catch them, and brings back the 10th pack--opened. Fuck. Well, since we can't really sell the open pack, and Y is a smoker anyway, she bought it. What I can't figure out is, was the couple trying to get away with an extra pack of smokes, or did they honestly not realize it was the wrong kind until they had opened the carton AND the pack? Also, the it's not my fault is because new!manager, former AM, texted me just now asking about it. I explained, and when I told her I'd left the 9 packs (in the carton) up front because there was no spot for it in the plan-o-gram, she replied with "I know. That's why they were in the office"....Okay, and I knew that Y had taken them out of the office to start with? No. I didn't. It's Not. My. Fault!
