  • Two Years Later and I'm Still Pissed (Starring drunk police)

I haven't posted in awhile due to not being able to work the water park during a complicated pregnancy then after the baby I got an on campus job...so no sc's for some time. But a conversation with a friend reminded me on this...

I wasn't sure if this should go in sucky customers or morons in management; if in the wrong place, mods please move it. On to story time:

Background: I work as a slide attendant in a water park inside a popular themed hotel.

When I was still fairly new at the job, spineless main manager was working on a very slow night. I rotated to the kiddie spot when 4 drunk men come running up playing tag, nearly knocking me over. I knew the manager was doing visual audits that night so I was extra strict.

    ME-miserable employee
    DSC 1-drunk sc
    DSC 2-drunk sc's drunk friend
    SM-spineless manager

Me: Please stop running, there are kids here that may see that and think it's ok.
DSC 1: *mocks me in high voice*
DSC 2: *laughs* (other 2 drunks just ignore me completely)

They continue to run and break other rules like cannonballs in the hot tub
After blowing the whistle at them a few times I give up and call over manager. He briefly talks to them and walks away. They still break rules and I'm pissed by this point, until I overhear one of them say they're going to "get me". Now I'm pissed and paranoid as one of the drunks has disappeared; at the same time I see manager watching my area so I think they'll behave.
Wrong! I do my rounds and the missing drunk jumps out.
DSC 1: Oooga booga I'm gonna get you!
He proceeds to reach out and almost grab my breasts, and would have if I hadn't fallen backwards.

I get the manager over and he does nothing.
Me: You saw what they did, right?
SM: Yes, but I can't do anything.
Me: Wha...? (at this point I'm shaking with rage and afraid I'll punch drunks or manager*
SM: Well you employees are here to entertain and please the customers. Besides, he didn't actually lay a hand on you.
    Me:

I walked off at this point; found out later from low supervisor who agreed with me that the drunks were off-duty police officers at a conference taking place at the hotel.

I apologize if this was long but Grrr. I'm still pissed. So glad that fucking manager left shortly after.

You should have kicked him in the balls and said "Well, I thought the customers would be entertained and pleased by seeing your nuts shoot through the top of your skull."

      First, Welcome to CS!

Second -- (edit) -- I see that this happened a long time ago; if it happens again.... if you can, talk to the CO of the policemen who were staying there and explain what happened (the drunkenness and misbehavior) and what almost happened (the near miss, the apparent threat (cops know that as "Simple Assault") that may open them up to a lawsuit). Even if the specific officers in question cannot be identified, he can still have a chat with them about decorum and behavior in public.

Third - your manager was way waaay out of line. That sort of attitude suggests that he wouldn't have had a problem with it if the dude DID manage to grope you...while he watched...-_0

I actually did report them to security but they were already on the verge of being kicked out due to harassing other guests. I also reported asshole manager to head of security and he left two months later so I'm hoping he was fired.

Considering how your manager gave you the perfect set up to file one hell of a sexual harrassment/hostile work environment law suit, I'd say he was probably fired. Good riddance, too. It's NEVER okay for a customer to grope an employee - not unless you work in a whore house.

I was gonna say. They don't even let people touch the dancers in a tittie bar!

Huh. Most of the gay bars I've been to not only let you TOUCH the dancers, you can give them a prostate exam when depositing the dollar.

                    Fuckers.

It would have served them right to have charges pressed against them.

Well...there IS a bit of a difference between a "whorehouse" where one person is providing cash to another in exchange for sex and a "tittie bar" where people dance nude or semi-nude.
You'll find a slight squeeze on the hooter an excellent safety precaution, Miss Scrumptious.

Actually, the way the law is written in Ohio, as long as the establishment doesn't sell alcohol, they can allow you to touch the dancers. If they sell so much as a Billy Beer, you can't touch the dancers.

Yes, it is a really wierd law. No one has ever explained the sense of it to my satisfaction.

In MA full nudity is allowed in strip clubs but there is absolutely no touching of the dancers (my boss almost got tossed from a bachelor party because he touched one of the girls...he was drunk and throwing out $20's like they were singles so all the girls got together and convinced the bouncer to overlook the touching that one time).

In NH girls in strip clubs need pasties and g-strings but the girls can touch you if they want, you aren't allowed to initiate contact.

Every state has there own laws, some stranger than others.

Blame the people who seem to lose every bit of self control the moment they touch a drop of alcohol.
