Quoth Racket_Man View PostThat is almost as bad a one "father" who took his 7 year old son to see a MIDNIGHT showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show complete with full shadow cast performing, a full audience with FULL knowledge of all of the callback lines (and most are NOT G or PG), and people dressed out in various Rocky and non Rocky costumes (some are VERY R rated).
this man then writes a VERY nasty letter to the local BIG city newspaper complaining about everything and I think demanding that the show be shut down.
The cast used to have a copy of the letter on their website.I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

Ever seen one of those old cartoons, where someone wanders into a building under construction, they're blindfolded, sleepwalkng or otherwise oblivious, and everytime they start to step off into thin air a crane shifts a girder to give them footing, so they make it thru the site with something miraculously appearing to prevent harm as they go?
I think that's akin to how some SC parents expect life to be when they go out with their kids - that no matter where they take their kids, it will suddenly become kid friendly/safe as they set foot into it with their kids, no matter what it's normally like. The world just magically changes as they go to accomodate their kids. Or at least, it should, in their minds.
Madness takes it's toll....
Please have exact change ready.

One more case of underagers in the theater...
When I went to see the South Park movie for the second day in a row (brought a lady friend with me the second time), we sat waaay up top at the back. Not long after we got there, the next row down filled up...With one guy (presumably a dad) and a dozen twelve-to-thirteen year old girls. >_< I really wonder if he knew what he was in for going in. It was only the second day it was out.
The friend cracked up alongside me for the entire film, and soon had taught her parrot to say some new vocabulary. Namely, "Uncle F***er!""For a musician, the SNES sound engine is like using Crayola Crayons. Nobuo Uematsu used Crayola Crayons to paint the Sistine Chapel." - Jeremy Jahns (re: "Dancing Mad")

"Retail is a cruel master, and could very well be the most educational time of many people's lives, in its own twisted way." - me

I'm sure the people in the ticket office thought I was the worst dad in the world, but he and I had a good time. Of course, I had to explain the "Silence of the Lambs" reference, because he had never seen it.Sometimes life is altered.

Reminded me of this mother
http://www.stfuparentsblog.com/post/...#disqus_thread
Got pissed because she was kicked out of an adult store for bringing in her children.
Sure the kids were young, but seriously? What the fuck was she thinking? I certainly don't want to be looking at sex toys while a kid is playing with the dildos.

Quoth blas View PostBut, to a lot of people with kids, their kids should be welcomed anywhere and everywhere they go.
This includes, and is not just limited to.....action movies (yeah, whoever you are that brought your baby to Avengers...you should be shot)

Quoth Duncan MacLeod View Postin the USA at least "R" only requires a parent to be there, and it is 17+ otherwise. NC-17 is the only one that is truly restricted.
R — Restricted. Children Under 17 Require Accompanying Parent or Adult Guardian.
G-General Admission.
PG-Parental Guidance for children under 15.
M: Mature themes, parental guidance recommended for children under 15.
MA/MA15+: Restricted, you have to be 15 years old MINIMUM, but if you're under 18, you need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
R: 18+ only. If you're not 18, you can't enter.
The M rating USED to be M15+ and you had to be 15 to see those films. They lifted that restriction sometime before 2002 as my sister and I were allowed to see Austin Powers Goldmember without hassle. (I was 12, she was 9. We both turned out fine )The best professors are mad scientists! -Zoom

Quoth fireheart View PostTo clarify, the person you quoted is from Australia (as am I). We have a slightly different rating system down here.
In the US, they're done like this:
eC - Early childhood. 3 and older. Almost never seen, as these games don't sell very well, so very few tend to get published.
E - suitable for everyone 6 and older. The default if the ESRB can't find anything particularly objectionable. Quite common. Equivalent to US G.
E10+ - for everyone age 10 and older. Reasonably common.
T - Teen. 13 and older. Equivalent to US PG-13. Very common.
M - Mature. 17 and older/with parent's permission. A thorough investigation of buyers on this one, laws involved, et al is probably better off over on Fratching ^_^ Equivalent to US R. Reasonably common.
AO - Adults Only. Just what it says on the tin. Equivalent to US NC-17 (formerly X). No game store company in their right mind will knowingly carry these. Anathema to a game dev who was not intentionally making an adult game.
RP - Rating Pending. Just what it says on the tin. Never used on something that has actually been released."For a musician, the SNES sound engine is like using Crayola Crayons. Nobuo Uematsu used Crayola Crayons to paint the Sistine Chapel." - Jeremy Jahns (re: "Dancing Mad")

Quoth Ironclad Alibi View PostThat's a movie that needs to be made. I wonder what rating it would get?
As for South Park, my dad and I watched that flick in his living room. He thought the Uncle Fucka song was hilarious! My mom...not so much. Even though we were all adults, she couldn't understand why anyone would want to "watch that trash." Yes Mom, the movie has lots of cursing in it. That's the damn point!
I do admit, that I have a *very* "colorful" vocabulary at times. Don't believe me? Come over when I'm working on the MG, and you'll hear some very interesting phrases. However, I usually keep that in check if I know there are children around. Why? I really don't want to hear "Mommy, Protege called someone a 'twinkle-toed fuck pixie.' What's that mean?" I don't want to have to explain it, nor do I want to possibly get my ass beat for using that phrase when kids are nearbyAerodynamics are for people who can't build engines. --Enzo Ferrari
