What is a "Queen Room"?

Is it:

A) A room with 1 or 2 Queen Sized beds
B) A room with 2 Double or Full Sized beds
C) A or B qualify.
D) A room in which the Queen resides.

In my experience the answer is "A". However, I had a guest argue with me tonight, insisting that I am wrong, and that a Queen room is a room with 2 Double beds as well.

I have never heard of this, and I have worked in hotels for 4 years.

BTW, being that he was such a jackass to me, if he ever comes in on my shift again, his preferred room type will NOT be available.

God I hate that.....

Thankfully I don't have to deal with that very often, but that sort of bullshit makes my patience evaporate VERY fast. It's so frustrating because you first have to drag the person back to the actual meaning of the term (or policy, or whatever else they're trying to redefine) and then deal with the actual problem.

And unless you're at Buckingham Palace (or perhaps sections of Brighton or San Francixco ) a queen room is a room with queen size beds in it. Geez, if that SC thinks a queen room is one with double beds, then is a double room one with two single beds? SC logic - unique to the universe.

Now to be serious for a bit. I have to agree here, words do not mean something just because one person seems to think they do, unless that person has the title "Emperor of the universe." and no just THINKING that you are that special does not count.

Maybe since the only rooms with queen beds at my hotel are 2 beds, I differentiate between a One Queen Room and a Two Queen Room, the first of which my hotel does not have. We also have King Rooms, but not Two King Rooms. The naming scheme describes exactly what type of bed you're getting in the room. People are dumb.

No, that would be the emergency room -- or so says my boyfriend, who used to have a frequent flyer patient who would check in to the hospital on those days he needed to dress up and feel pretty. The patient had sickle-cell anemia, and so had a handy excuse for needing the E.R. He'd come in, check in, get a room and watch TV (he only came in when his favorite show would be on), dress up, and check out.

This doesn't really surprise me though.

Customers like to invent their own realities...
- their own version of 'current time'
- their own version of what's in the health-code
- their own version of what a warranty covers
- their own version of what the credit reporting laws dictate


and much much more. so i'm not surprised one tried to invent his own idea of what a queen room was.

I would tell that guest that it may be that way at his hotel, but at this hotel it was defined as "A". Other hotels can define it however they wish.

Well this one I really can understand.

Since it's dealing with finances they may be wondering if you're using the regular calendar for transactions or the fiscal calendar.

Especially in the US cos the government uses Oct 1 to Sep 30 as the calendar dates.
