  • The entitlement! It burns!!

There is a woman infamous amongst customer service staff in my city for being weird, awkward, difficult, rude, and everything in between (henceforth known as "Whackaloon"). She comes into town every day and apparently spends her life harassing the staff in various establishments. The list of places that know her on sight, include, but are not limited to: the council, the library, the chemists, the bank, various pubs, and the store I used to work in (as of today I am no longer a lingerie lackey - yay, no more general public!).

It is hard to explain if you've not dealt with her but this woman is so passive-aggressive, frustrating, and rude that dealing with her is utterly draining and either leaves you confused, or so angry you feel like you are going to transform into the Hulk.

There are many stories I could tell about her but I can feel myself tensing up at the mere memory of her so I will just settle for this one as it really is incredibly entitled.

Wee bit of background: I worked for a store that prides itself on its customer service. Most of the staff really will go above and beyond for customers, but there are limits.

Whackaloon once submitted a formal complaint to our store manger about a staff member (SM). The nature of her complaint was that she was walking into town one day when she saw SM drive past her without stopping. Our store manager asked her, "What was she supposed to do? Stop and give you a lift?" That, my friends, is exactly what Whackaloon thought she should have done, and was why she was complaining. Our store manager didn't take the complaint any further.

Wow. That's one of the more entitled stories I've heard about SCs!

      What a pwecious little snowflake.

This is why the most guarded secret of an employee's life is his/her car's make/model

Good luck guessing mine, I've got like 8 to choose from on any given day

If it wasn't for the fact that you're in England and I'm in the US, I would've thought you were dealing with the Drama Queen.

I freaking hate passive-aggresive people. They're manipulative button-pushers, act incredibly childishly and seem to take a silent delight in irritating others. It's sick.

That has got to be the stupidest, most self-absorbed, entitled thing I have ever seen/heard/read in the time I have been on this site... I'm just glad that the complaint wasn't taken seriously at all.

I wonder how long it took the store manager to stop laughing.

They definitely sound very similar! She just sucks all good feelings out of you, I swear no customer has ever left me feeling as angry as she does. It's weird.

One example of what she is like whilst I have the energy to tell this tale: when I was new she saw my 'in training' badge and purposely asked me an obscure question that I was unlikely to know the answer to just so she could have something to criticise me for. .

From what I gather she's been really lonely since her husband died about 10 years ago, but it's no surprise she's got no one in her life if this is how she treats people. If she was nice then the staff at the store would be more than happy to spend time with her, but she isn't nice, so they hide from her instead.

You work for J... Lewis I presume, if it's a retail job they're top notch on the old CS.

The two things I will never give out, my surname and where my car is, my managers however will often come up to me and say, I've just gave your cell phone number to that customer, just in case he needs you. Awfully nice of them*

                      *its not.

Not John Lewis, but somewhere similar.

Omg, is it your personal number they give out? If so that is outrageous!!

...and that's why my boss doesn't know my number; it's in my work file somewhere, they have called me on it before, but luckily my boss has such poor personal recordkeeping that they've lost their copy and I refuse to give it to them on principle.

because we all know SCs would just use that to summon their personal servants

Or perhaps I'm wrong... that's fucked up.
My managers use to suggest it to me - texting customers ... however they backed down when I informed them that I paid per text. Plus I did comment about "what happens if they get disgruntled?"
