This story I feel belongs in the Sucky Customers section because this coworker was playing the part of the customer. SCW= Sucky Coworker
This is a story I just remembered from back in 2004-2005. I was working in the food court in the mall. 5 or more restaruants are owned by HMSHOST, so we get an $8.00 meal voucher every day we work when we go on break.
So 1 day while I was on register, SCW from a different HMSHOST restaraunt comes through my line and uses their voucher. But she has more than $8.00 and actually has almost $10 in food. In my time with this company, I've had this argument so many goddam fucking times with coworkers.... If you go over your $8.00, you pay the difference, end of story. I even complained to management about it and told them to tell the employees to stop bitching about it. On this day,
SCW: Hey, why is it more?
Me: You went over $8.00.
SCW:
This is not right.
Me: Um, yes the total is correct. You went over your free $8.00 voucher, so you have to pay the difference.
SCW:
How?
Me:
YOu had this, this, and this, and that comes to about $10. You have to pay the difference or take something off.
SCW: I'm not taking anything off! You're overcharging me!
Finally I'm starting to lose my temper. I may have to put up with this crap from customers, but I'm certainly not about to put up with it from coworkers.
Me: Look, this is your total. Now either you pay the difference, or you take something off. I don't wanna hear any more.
SCW: Just take the fucking voucher!
Me:
Ok, that's it! I've had it! You're not eating here now! I'm tired of this bullshit!
I take her food away and set it on the counter behind me.
SCW: Give me my food!
Me: No!
SCW: Give it to me right now, or I will get my boss!
Me: Go right ahead! You cussed at me and I'm not tolerating that! Now leave!
She storms off and gets her supervisor from another restaraunt. Keep in mind that even though we all work for HMSHOST, a Sup from another restaraunt cannot tell me what to do, and she tries to do just that. I got the feeling that they were good friends and that they were going to try and bully me. Well sorry, but my mind's made up. You're not getting service from me, and that's final.
Sup: Give her the food!
Me: Nope.
Sup: Do it right now!
Me: She refused to pay the difference on the voucher! I explained that to her, and she cussed at me! So now she gets no service!
Sup: I said to give her the food!
Me: No! And furthermore, you're both being reported to management!
I grab the food and walk into the back with it. I do not come out, and they leave. Good riddens. This is 1 of the very few times in my life that I've gotten that upset. I've refused service to other customers who cross the line. For those interested, no I did not get into trouble, and why should I? Both the Sup and coworker did get talked to.
As for the coworker thing, I'm certainly not going to put up with that shit from both customers and coworkers, and I don't have to.

I had someone from a jewelry store cuss at me and.... wait for it.... threaten to kick my ass, and he said those actual words. I refused him service too and told him to leave. I reported him to mall security, and they informed him that he was allowed only to go to his place of employment in the mall, the bathroom, and that's it. I never saw him again either. I was severely tempted to sitting down with his boss and telling him to inform his employees to behave themselves. You certainly don't expect someone dressing so nicely in a suit and tie to be so fucking immature and go looking for fights, especially when he's at work, regardless of whether or not he's on break. No excuse for ANYONE acting this way, plain and simple. But when you gotta deal with it from other coworkers, that is most definitely where I draw the line. Of all people, you'd think coworkers are the last people you'd expect to be sucky customers.
