  • But we haven't invented transporter beams yet!

So, if you don't have an email address or fax machine it's pretty much impossible for me to get you anything in writing today. Bonus points if you want it to be more than a form letter. Or have specific legal phrases that your bank is requiring.

No, I'm not going to drive a letter across town to you. Yes, I understand that your refi/short sale/quitclaim scheme might fail if you don't have this letter today. If it was that important to you, you would have planned for this ahead of time and gotten the documentation you needed. Yes, I'm sure that you've been quite busy in the past two months.

No, (and everybody say it together) failure to plan on your part does NOT constitute an emergency on my part.

So of ALL the available options (including, presumably in a town the size of O., a courier service or DRIVING HIMSELF) the only one EW wanted was for you to deliver it?

    Wow.

    And who doesn't have email?

Besides my parents? Probably my dogs.

If I come home and find Abby or Buddy checking the email on my laptop, I'm RICH!!!

As in retiring from the litter box and hitting the talk show circuit rich.

My store has an email newsletter offer and I've had a fair few people tell me they don't have internet.

Or could it be that they're outright lying because they don't want our hysterically excited emails about new products cluttering up their inboxes ... nah, that can't be it.

So many people lie and say that they don't have email, when really they're just afraid that I will somehow set them up on a spam list.

No, that's all of the "contests" you sign yourself up for. I just want to email you a 60-page document instead of killing a tree and shipping it to you.

Unless this in the boondocks, they really can't afford a computer/internet service, or there's no public library, I really can't see anyone not being able to send something quickly. Especally with the way everything's going digital these days.
Eh, one day I'll have something useful here. Until then, have a cookie or two.

He probably didn't want to print it out himself; too cheap to use his own paper/ink.

There are still lots of people without internet and/or email; folks with very little money, mostly. No point having email if you have to trek to the library every time you want to use it.

But if you're in business of any kind, it's really a necessity these days.

Betcha the guy just didn't want to pay for a courier service. Lots of people used to want to Fedex their ads to us on our dime. Ain't happening.

My Dad doesn't have an e-mail address, or even a computer. If he needs something online he goes over to one of my sisters houses and has them do/print it. It also lets him see some of his grandkids. He also plans far in advance though, and if he needs important paperwork NOW he drives to get it himself after making sure it will be there and the place will be open when he gets there.

My Dad is also 70 though and doesn't have much to do during the day.
