  • Not my problem

This one is one of those where you don't give a damn when the customer says shit like: I will go somewhere else!
We all silently pray they keep their "promises"

This guy did a check with me earlier seemed fine and happy. Later tho...

SC: Hey, I need to write another check but I don't have anymore. Can you do a counter check?

I already know that answer. No. We do NOT have those. We never have.

Me: I can check to see if you are set up for markers....

Markers are like 30 "loans" where we print off a paper, they sign it and we pull the money from their account one month after it was done.

    He was not set up.

Me: Let me ask my boss and see what we can do for you.

I go in the back full knowing there is nothing.

SV: He's not set up for markers but if he waits til tomorrow we can talk to credit and see what we can do.

I relay that and of course the shit hits the fan.

SC: Such a disappointment! At other casino they would do it for me! I will not be back!

I apologized then after awhile I was annoyed cuz he kept bitching like it was OUR fault he didn't have another check. Now where was said other check? He lives 7mins away!!! He was a local! I don't feel bad and if he is going to be a douche for something he did, I hope he goes somewhere else!

Later I had a lady with an expired ID trying to write a check. A big no no. Her account had been put on hold due to the fact that she didn't have new ID.

Me: I just need your new ID, so I can scan it and we'll be on our way.

She has one of those extension papers BUT not the actual paper just the receipt.

Me: Unfortunately we require the physical ID. Do you have the other paper?

SC: what other paper? This is MY receipt from the DMV!

Me: Right, it's NOT the extension it's just a receipt... Our policy will not let us take that as an ID. So unless you have a state issued I'm afraid we can't proceed with this transaction.

SC: the DMV says it's proper ID!

Me: We're not the Dmv.... We have other policies and procedures. I am sorry but again there is nothing we can do...

SC: I can't believe this! I'm going to ____ casino!

    Me: okay, have fun!!!

I was getting annoyed. Not my problem you brought the wrong paper!

Why would someone keep the receipt on them, but not the extension? Duh, people are stupid...

Why cant people understand that we couldnt care less if you go to another location? Their $20 that they are spending are not going to make or break us and it isnt worth the time or hassle to put up with their BS.

Excellent response! You even wished her something positive as she left!

        I salute you.

That is one reason I love that Alaska prints the ID's on location so you leave with it.

New Mexico used to do that.... I really miss being able to walk out of the MVD office with your new DL. Not have to wait 6 weeks for it come from somewhere in WA. And ours have the same problem, not acceptable ID for some places. And that's the least of the problems with our DLs. (But that's another rant for another day on Fratching.)

              So does New Brunswick.

Of course, when I went to renew my license just before New Years, one of the laminate rollers ran out, and the printer hated the replacement roller. Took them a good hour to get it changed (quick) and to get the system to recognize everything was kosher again. (long time). She had been about to go get the temporary paper licenses when the goblin in the machine decided he had enough and let things work properly.

Luckily (somewhat) it was only me and 2 other guys who were waiting for license renewals. Everyone else had other things they were doing. But it did tie up one of the 3 people working there over the lunch break, which made things awkward for those waiting.

You see, NB Services in the town I was at has a "Fast Line" for some operations (including driver's license renewal, something neither I nor the other two guys realized), and a 'pull number' for everything else. With one person tied up on the printer system, another on her lunch break, there was only 1 person left for the counter, and she was stuck in that Fast Lane desk. The number pull people were just a bit frustrated.

I don't know how the DMV works but I wish they could just print them a new ID while they are there so there is no "we will mail you your id" bullshit to deal with.

NC used to do that, but in recent years switched to a system where you receive a temporary paper and then the actual ID or DL arrives by mail a few days later.
