Every Friday night I drop my older son off at youth group and take my youngest son with me to Voldermart to kill time (middle son is currently with my sister in another state). Generally we just look around the Lego aisle and maybe get an inexpensive set, or, if he's saved enough money we get a larger set. Then we head over to boys' clothing to look at Angry Birds merchandise. The child is obsessed with the game and has an entire wardrobe of character clothing.
Well, a couple of weeks ago, we chatted for a bit with one particular employee. She was super sweet and joked with him that she's no good at that game and he said he would have to teach her the tricks of how to beat all the levels. They laughed and joked for a few minutes and he told her about all of his Angry Birds stuff and all of his Lego stuff, and then it was time to go get his older brother, so we left.
Today, we were back, and as we were heading to the toy department, this same lady approached and started chatting with him and then she said "Oh! We just got some new Angry Birds shirts! I can show them to you if your mom says it's okay." So, off we went to boys' clothing. She showed him all the new shirts, then we headed off to the toy department where she showed him the new games, and then she excused herself to the back and then came back with an Angry Birds plush that had been on clearance that she'd stashed in hopes that she'd spot us again. Of course I had to buy it because it was so cheap, but I was thrilled that she'd stashed it so the little one would have a chance of getting it. This is a very busy store, so the chances that we'd have found it otherwise were slim.
This lady totally made the child's night.
