  • Why cant all my customers be like this?

I manage a game store selling board games, card crack (magic the gathering), and miniature games (warmachine). These customers are nuts, just saying.

    Me: Awesome game store manager
Custys: 3 14-15 yr old asian (possibly Filipino) boys

2 weeks ago, custys come in and approach our counter (glass top with many expensive MTG cards under) and hover. I ask them if I can give them a hand and they point out a few MTG cards and ask to purchase them, then keep asking for more cards, boxes of cards, and sleeves/deck boxes. $600+ later, they leave. The next day they came back and did the same thing. Today I am sitting on 2 boxes of Modern Masters and they come in and buy both boxes. Total shopping spree over $2000 in magic products. No, they were not using stolen credit cards or anything like that, we checked. They just had a LOT of money to spend.

LOL I used to have that when I worked in the retail arm of the company that makes the Magic cards. We sold warhammer 40k, and a LOT of it, largely because I am a kick arse salesman. We had a regular who was about that age and he was spoiled ROTTEN, and had parents who easily made 6 figures. Every time he was in the store, he had a stack of stuff he wanted to buy. One time his grandmother came with him to buy him some of the minis, he kept asking for help and I was showing him product. Finally his grandmother pulled me aside and told me to stop suggesting things, and to tell him that he didn't need any more... Of course, he kept picking new things and adding them to the pile without me. (LOL I wasn't doing the selling at this point anyway, he'd been playing a while and knew more or less what he wanted, he was mostly bouncing rules questions off of me to help narrow his list.) Finally Grandma EXPLODES at me, and wails, "He's only a child!" like I was sacrificing him to the devil or something. (and of course, nowhere in here did *SHE* tell him no). Then she wanted everything for half price (less than the markup on the product), so... uh, no. Then she wanted 25% off Still no. Then she wanted me to not collect the TAX on the product (LOL talk to your elected officials about that) The whole thing was rather humorous.

I also have to ask, do you ever get the nerd who JUST has to tell you about his half-dwarf, half-elf ranger/paladin and his many D&D exploits? LOL I never wanted to shoot myself before those started. LOL he one customer even looked at me 15-20 minutes in to his tale and said, "Well your eyes have glazed over... I guess its time for me to get going." LOL

My 1st night of being a delivery driver for a not-quite-local office of a pizza place. I deliver my very first ever food delivery order and greet the man warmly. I smile, hand him his food, and he scrawls on the receipt. Cool, they s'posta do that, right?

Two runs later, I pull into the driveway of a family who has just moved in, and wants a quickie dinner for Moving-In-Hurricane-of-Activities. I hand them the pizza and wings and breadsticks, they hand me $44. Pay for the food, right?

I close out that night and find these two customers handed me $6 -EACH- in tips!!

Why can't all customers be this awesome?!

              More Pizza Guy stuff...

I deliver a customer's food and apologize for being late, as he was quoted delivery at 6:20 and it was 6:30. I was also not completely put together, shirt untucked and sign not lit...

Guy tells me it's not problem and then signs over a SEVEN DOLLAR TIP!!
Can you guess to whom I wish to deliver again? SOON?
