So, I went to meet a friend at a Hawaiian place near where I live, because I got laid off and my friend has been supporting me and paying for stuff I need, and I needed some cash for gas and medicine and the like. Got there 15 minutes before closing (The agreed time) and my friend was a no show. Finally gave up ten minutes after close (not being a jerk, the place was still busy, they hadn't locked the doors, and customers were still coming in or sitting and eating.) Got up to leave, and let the guy at the counter know my friend hadn't shown up so I couldn't afford to place an order. Got outside, and the cook chased me down and asked why I had sat in there for 30 minutes and not ordered. Wasn't I hungry? I said, sure, I was hungry, but my friend hadn't shown up and I couldn't pay.
So he told me, no problem, you've sat and waited for like 30 minutes, you deserve some food! And he marched me back inside, asked me what I wanted, and filled up a to go box right there. Got home, and found out he'd had the girl at the counter fill up a box with double the normal amount of food! So not only did I get a free meal (their portions are already huge) I got enough for a second one! All because of a great restaurant with great customer service and a great helping of the Aloha spirit. (Look it up.)
